Piscine

The Piscine is an aggregation of the various sentient fish subspecies. Many struggle to survive and last without significant magical intervention, as the sea is a dangerous place to try to survive.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Piscine do not fully sleep, but enter a half-sleep time period. The exception being merfolk who do traditionally sleep. This may be somewhat related to the elf trance but is in some ways different. Most can breath in both water and air, though must remain moist during long stints on land.

These species also have their own set of diseases and are immune to some of the more common land based flu's and rashes.

Their phobias an unusual loves are somewhat related to their biology and environment.

  2. Pyrophobia - fear of fire
  3. Chirophobia - fear of hands
  4. Hylophobia - fear of trees, forests, woods
  5. Haptephobia - fear of being touched
  6. Murophobia - fear of rats/mice
  7. Eisoptrophobia - fear of looking in mirrors
  8. Oneirophobia - fear of dreams

Common Philias (unusual loves or obsessions)

  1. Gymnophilia - love of nudity
  2. Claustrophilia - love of enclosed/confined spaces
  3. Ombrophilia - love of rain
  4. Ophthalmophilia - love of being stared at
  5. Leukophilia - love of the color white
  6. Enochlophilia - love of crowds
  7. Taphophilia - love of tombs/graves
  8. Panphilia - love of everything (espeically new things)

Genetics and Reproduction

Like Avids the Piscine are egg layers with the exception of the Merfolk. Their anatomy is unusual in that they are more humanoid than other fish, so they straddle the difference between the two. Mating is not the same and relationships are more communal and less pairing than most.
