Flooded Crypts

Beneath Lonalg City there are several layers of crypts. Blessed to prevent necromantic effects. They have been left alone for a long time and have flooded with hot springs water that retains a lukewarm temperature. The lower levels are completely submerged while the upper levels of the crypts are only in about a foot or two of water. Clerics of various gods would like to see it blessed again, just as a preventive measure against any would-be necromancer from raising a dwarven skeleton army. It is not however in anyone's active attempts to sanitize. It is likely only to be able to be hallowed again if it can be drained and water redirected away from the crypts from the volcanic springs within the mountain.
The location has a lot of bacteria that can cause Death Rot. Given the age of most burials it is unusual that the rot would have perpetuated this strongly.

Fauna & Flora

Multiple types of bacteria, pond scum, scumweed and sightless fish. It is also believed that several dwarven ghosts also inhabit the layers of the crypt. The sightless fish are unusual in that they take on a pale green color while most are colorless.

History

Built as a city wide mausoleaum the crypts themselves are a siries of niches within a sealed room specific to a specific clan. A stele stone in the middle of each crypt contains the names of the members of the clan within the crypt. As older bodies decompose the bones were pushed back for new bodies within the crypt. As the habit of dwarven funerals means the leaving of trinket with the dead with the body in simple shifts, it means they are rife with trinkets of varying price and construction. This makes them popular with grave robbers.

Tourism

While it is forbidden to enter, and signs have been made to prevent entry, there are several kobolds who have made it into a rite of passge. This was after one came back with a magic hammer from an expedition one time. It is dangerous mostly due to the lack of air and the bacterial soup that is necrotizing flesh and warm water.
