Valére

Valére was a settlement located along the eastern side of the Godscar in the Northern Commons. Originally built after the formation of the Godscar as a mining town, the area was nearly abandoned by the beginning of the Fourth Era, with only a few ranchers living on the outskirts of the settlement.

History

In the wars and civil strife that swept across Beurum after the Akathon Crisis, the area that would eventually become Valére was used as the location for a stronghold by Pompeius Valére, an Alois warlord seeking to secure power in the area. He was quickly defeated, leaving behind a fortress.   In the following years, Alois horse riders took notice of the fortress and decided to investigate the nearby Godscar, finding large amounts of exposed ore. They established a settlement, establishing the old fortress as the town's central hall, and started a mining operation. Large numbers of Makovai dwarves flocked to the area, as well as peoples from various ethnicities seeking to start a new life. The town boomed in popularity, and several temples, a school, and countless homes were established.    Over time, the town came into conflict with surrounding Alois localities, as the diverse inhabitants of Valére developed their own system of values and often conducted religious and public affairs differently than usual.    Valére began to experience a gradual decline when veins of ore in the Godscar began to dry up, and most of the population had moved away by the beginning of the Fourth Era. By the year 6911, only a handful of people lived in the town, most of whom were ranchers who made homes out of abandoned buildings. Several rumors existed about why the town had been largely abandoned, but scholars agreed that this was solely due to the lack of new ores to mine.
