The Moon Siblings

The Moon Siblings were a Trebai crime syndicate active in the Fifth Era, reaching the height of their power in the years following the Twenty-Year War. The product of sustained disorder in the region as the Trebai Ascendancy struggled to assert their authority, the organization operated mostly in the countryside of the Western Commons.

Structure

The Moon Siblings were led by a mysterious figure called Windstrider. Little was known about this person, even to many members of the syndicate, other than that he was a Trebai man with a mastery of subterfuge. Beneath Windstrider were several people in charge of individual safehouses in various locales across the Western Commons. From these safehouses, members would be assigned specific tasks to complete around the area.

Culture

Moon Siblings were expected to be blindly loyal to the guild, and take any job that was asked of them. Despite this, members sometimes slacked off or went rogue after making off with large amounts of wealth. These rogues were hunted down by the syndicate, and punished severely when caught.   Members identified themselves in a number of ways. One popular mark of a Moon Sibling was the symbol of a Crescent Moon, often tattooed on the wrist, ankle, or shoulder.

Assets

At the height of their power in the 8070s and 8080s, the Moon Siblings were said to have over fifty different safehouses. By this time, the organization was thought to have stolen as much wealth as a sizeable Trebai trading town could generate in a century.   In addition to storing their wealth in safehouses populated by several syndicate members, the Moon Siblings also had a habit of hiding loot in hidden chests, whose locations were known only to a few. Occasionally, this resulted in ordinary people finding treasures around the Western Commons. These chests were marked with the symbol of the syndicate, a crescent moon.

History

The Moon Siblings were founded in 8040, originally with more noble intentions. They served the armies of the High Kingdom of Beurum and later the fledgling Trebai Ascendancy while they fought the Twenty-Year War, selling goods to soldiers that they would otherwise have difficulty obtaining. A segment of the Moon Siblings began to acquire these goods by stealing them, a practice that eventually became popular within the entire organization.   After the war's end, the organization stopped selling to soldiers and started selling to impoverished Makovai communities on the southwestern reaches of the Makovai Mountains. Originally based solely in the Trebai port city of Praedek, they expanded their operations north to smaller communities in the Western Commons. Many regional rulers had been able to preserve their personal stores of wealth during the war, and were now using it to rebuild from the conflict's devastation. There was generally less security in these locales than in larger cities like Praedek, so the Moon Siblings developed several safehouses overtime.   One notable heist by the syndicate was the stealing of several thousand gold pieces found beneath the ruins of Green Marsh, which were being transported to the town of Rovna. Despite a large amount of security guarding the treasure, a band of over a hundred Moon Siblings overwhelmed the force and seized the gold for themselves.
