Agigi Ganegom

Agigi Ganegom sits on a vein of magic, one of the most exposed veins known on the continent, save only for The Gift of Parretoa itself. The vein runs north for hundreds of miles, until it ends, deep in the desert. This is where the city of Agigi Ganegom was founded.   When Parretoa fell, it tore the world apart. The most notable remnant of the fall is the impact crater, known as the Gift of Parretoa. From this crater the earth cracked open in numerous directions, opening up to the depths of the world. One of these gorges runs north for hundreds of miles before it ends, deep in the inhospitable desert of Aganaan.   After The Fall of Parretoa, it didn't take long for people to discover the increased magical activities around the crater and the gorges that run from it, and soon they learned that these places served as wells of magic. When the Arcane Persecutions started taking place in the 2nd century after Parretoa, many folk with a affinity to magic were attracted to these places.   It is at this point in time that we see the origins of the city that would become Agigi Ganegom. You see, the lands directly around the crater have become much to unpredictable to make a living, but the veins that run from it are just as full of magical potential, but much more safe. So it was that many mages trekked through the desert and met at the end of this particular rift, which they called the Parretoan Canal. Here they explored their newfound abilities, studying and learning about magic.   In time, through the use of magic, they were able to carve out a living in the harsh conditions of the desert. They built homes, and halls, terraformed the lands, and settled permanently. This new settlement attracted only more mages, and so their settlement grew.   When the Arcane Persecutions ended in 261 AP, that put an end to the influx of refugees, though Agigi Ganegom had already gained a reputation as a center of knowledge about everything and anything magical. Many scholars sought out this desert citadel, hoping to learn more about this newly discovered force.   It was also during the Arcane Persecutions that a cult originated within the walls of this city: the Cult of Aditin, the God of Magic and Imagination. This cult gain influence, especially among the people that were being persecuted for showing even the slightest hint of arcane abilities. The faith of Aditin, also known as The Magocracy, quickly being the main religion in Agigi Ganegom, and they turned away from the Faith of The Great Balance.   It is also home to many clerics, wizards, warlocks and scholars from around the continent, all searching for knowledge of the ways of magic, attempting to understand the ways of nature, or even the gods. There are large complexes where they are allowed to remain during their extended research.   The streets are lined with markets and stalls, where merchants, apprentices and learned mages all try to buy, sell and trade magical items, artifacts and components for spells. The streets are always busy, with people shouting over each other, and the smell of all sorts of spices, herbs and ingredients fills the air. All around you are the sounds of magical explosions, machines and spells That is, until you reach the great circle: the inner city. Here the world turns silent, and you find yourself among the most powerful and influential institutions in Agigi Ganegom, from academies, to guilds and libraries.   For a while this remained the case, until a man name Kich Ling staged a coup. He had consolidated power in the shadows, convincing unsuspecting wizard apprentices that he was the reincarnation of Aditin. In return for they loyalty he betrayed them and sacrificed them in a dark ritual, forming the his Phylactery and achieving immortality and declared himself The Magocrate, the supreme ruler of Agigi Ganegom and all mages.   After dethroning the Arcane Council, he set himself to work by erecting a tall spire from the Pit of Parretoa, on which he built his palace: the Palace of the Magocrate, where he now resides, ever strengthening his arcane abilities. The Arcane Council and High Mages' Court now serve the Magocrate, and are only there to enact his will.   The Magocrate takes in new pupil, often mre than one at a time. They are one of the few people allowed entrance into his palace, but only few of them ever come out. The ones that do, however, come out much stronger and more intelligible then before, having honed the ways of magic like no other.   Agigi Ganegom is a unique place, and none of its kind is found elsewhere in the world.
