Kaer Morhen
Kaer Morhen (Elder Speech translation: "Keep of the Old Sea") is an old keep where witchers of the School of The Wolf used to be trained. It is located in the mountains of Hertch in the kingdom of Kaedwen, right off the Gwenllech river. The castle can only be reached by "The Witchers Trail", nicknamed "The Killer", which is easy to miss and encircles the keep.
Purpose / Function
The keep foundations were constructed by ancient elves. Northern humans then established a modern castle over it. The original inhabitants left the area for some reason and the Wolf Witchers claimed the keep. Hence, it served as a headquarters for the Wolves; here, they during winter before setting out on The Path again and conducted the Trials.
Alterations
The keep was ruined over time due to attacks and poor maintenance, but in 1272, the last Wolf Witchers and their sorcerer friends helped rebuild and restore the keep to honour Vesemir.
Architecture
It is a castle with an outer wall and an inner wall. The area between the outer and inner walls serves as a training ground. The inner wall houses the living quarters, main hall, armoury and laboratory.
