The World

TCOG takes place on a fantasy Earth, magical realms, and planets. It is an Earth that mirrors our own except there’s magic. Much of the same major historical events have happened even with the existence of mages. Having been on Earth for centuries, mages have either taken a back seat in human affairs, been active participants, or even the main subject. Even though relations have improved, there is still a rift between humans, mages, and those who have lineage from both groups, demihumans. Namely, failed revolutions, witch hunts, discrimination, and differences in culture have led to this schism.   Mages reside in all major societies on Earth but are mostly concentrated in what would be considered Europe, the 2nd most populated area is the USA. There are also magical realms that host thousands of other planets and species. Mages left their original world around 500 C.E. when they were driven out by creatures called Leeches, carnivorous animals that feed on anyone with 75% or higher mage DNA.   The mage population that has settled and established countries in the European territories, refer to the collective of nations as the Commonwealth of Magic (or the Commonwealth for short).
