COMPLETE Chapter 3: The Mission City Line

A new rail line is being built to Mission City, but once again the Speedia Speedwagons pose a threat. Sentinel Minor recruits the party to help defend construction workers from the bandits.

Plot points/Scenes

Scene 1   Streetwise finds the party and informs them that Sentinel is looking for them for work outside of Operation Destiny.   SW: Oh, hey! I've been looking for you. Or rather, Sentinel is. He says he's got some work lined up for you. It's an unusual gig.   SW: Security, actually. I know that's my specialty, but apparently this is outside the colony. He has the details, so you'll want to talk to him.   Scene 2   The party talks to Sentinel inside of EarthCom.   SM: I see Streetwise found you. I've got some work for you, something that plays to your talents. We've had the Autobot Imperial Engineers working on some abandoned railroad infrastructure to the west of the city-- left behind by these humans when they ditched rail travel for roads. However, we've got some use for it still. We've got a lot of important materiel entering Mission City soon, and having a railroad network will help us move large freight more easily.   SM: The problem is, as it always is, those damn Speedwagons. They've been harassing our building crews, and we're running low on patrols to guard them. We're not far from being done, and the closer we've gotten to Mission City, the more intense the Speedwagon attacks have become. This is the last section of rail before we connect to what's already been built within the defensible perimeter of Mission City, so we expect quite the assault.   SM: Now, the security detail is voluntary, so participation doesn't increase Rank. However, you will be given a bonus on your pay.   SM: Excellent. Head to these coordinates-- remember, you'll be outside of the colony for this mission. These walls won't protect you out there. Stay alert, and keep the engineers safe. That's your top priority.   Scene 3   The party arrives at the build site.   Autorooper: Ah, so you're the relief detail? Great... I'm starting to think I see the bushes move. Best of luck.   The Autoroopers leave.   Gradient: Sorry about that. But they have been working hard. My name's Gradient, I'm with the Autobot Imperial Engineers. We've nearly got the track refurbished and there's just a few more sections to lay. We can finish within the day, as long as you keep the Speedwagons off our back.   Scene 4   The Speedwagons attack. Ransack leads the charge.   RS: You again, dammit. Well, we'll shred you all the same! This time, we've brought the big guns! Get 'em, Butterfly!   Butterfly: *roars* BUTTERFLY!   Speedwagon forces: x5 Droog, x2 Charger, Ransack, Butterfly   Scene 5   Mid Fight.   If the Speedwagons get through and attack the engineers:   GR: Hey! Aren't you supposed to be stopping this? Get them off my men!   If the Speedwagons kill an engineer:   GR: You dumbasses let one of them die! We can't keep this up!   Scene 6   After the attack is repelled.   No losses: GR: All right, that was close, but we made it. Thanks for your help. Looks like the Mission City Line is open for service.   Some losses: GR: Dammit, aren't you all supposed to be professionals? These were good men. But... that's going to happen on the front lines. Look, I'm just glad we got this done.   Scene 7   Returning to Sentinel.   SM: Good work out there. The Mission City Line is complete, and now linehaulers can bring cargo in and out of the city. Just in time, too. We're rolling out the red carpet for a corporate scientist who is setting up shop in town.   SM: A guy by the name of Cogman... apparently a real character, but I don't pay much attention to the tech sphere. I have more important things to do. Anyway, here's your bonus.   SM gives each Autobot party member 250 cr.
