Royal Woods
Geography
Castle Reignith is built on a slow-rising foothill within walking distance of the scenic Chilly Tiptop mountain range behind it. The Royal Woods is spread out in front, on mostly level ground close to the castle before the land rises ten feet and then dips into the valley below. Fifty yards before the downslope begins is where the Royal Woods ends and the Overlook Forest begins, with a low, stone wall to mark the castle property line. A smooth, dirt road traverses through the woods from the castle's rear boundary leading to Laterarcton, past the castle driveway, and down to the town of Oftinville.
Localized Phenomena
The woods outside of Castle Reignith may be home to a mysterious stranger known around the parts and neighboring towns as Wanderin' Wilbur, or so it has been suspected. He is a pleasant fellow and may strike up polite conversation, often giving out wonderful witticisms and sage advice for free.
There have also been unproven reports of dark sorcery at play in the woods by the some of the royal help and nobility living on the property.
The forest has been said to move and shift, mostly while the observer is walking. Some speak of rock formations and trees appearing where there were none just prior, or a branch rapidly growing across their path so quick that they could not dodge and ran into it. One guard patrol even reported seeing a bear not far in front of them and then the same bear suddenly behind them although neither guard had turned around.

"How is it that we have not exited the trees yet? Granted, I have not wandered in this far in a very long time, but I have viewed this forest from the tallest tower of the castle and do not recall it being so expansive. We should have reached the road by now, Cat." "I'm with you on that, Crow. I was wondering the same thing, especially after passing that same group of rocks for the forty-seventh time." Crow sees the rocks she is referring to and realizes that they do look familiar. Somehow, it had not dawned on him until now that some of the scenery has been repeating. "How did you not mention such a discovery at a much lower number?" Cat continues, "I tried reaching the tops of the trees to see our surroundings, but they seem to always be higher than I can reach, even though the distance back to the ground stays the same."

Fauna & Flora
There is a mix of trees in the forest, primarily deciduous with a scattering of pine. The birds and animals are a typical roster of forest wildlife; squirrels, deer, bears, badgers, wolverines, skibeldibofs, two-toed lemurvoles, parlitriks, finches, greenjays, and wapperwoo, among others; visible during their individual waking hours of roaming and perching and lazing about with nothing better to do.
