Frostgard Kingdom
Overview:
Frostgard lies in the southern reaches of Arnum, where the air is crisp and the snow never melts. Unlike the harsh and violent blizzards that plague the rest of the continent, Frostgard’s winter is calm, almost enchanted, a gentle and perpetual frost that glistens beneath pale skies. The kingdom’s beauty is serene and otherworldly, with frozen lakes reflecting the twilight sun and crystalline spires rising from the white plains. Peace defines Frostgard; diplomacy and restraint are its greatest strengths.
Major Districts:
- Glasthold: The royal capital, built atop veins of luminous purple Shard deposits. Its towers and bridges shimmer faintly in violet hues at night, giving the city an ethereal glow. The Royal Hall of Frost, where the monarch resides, is constructed entirely from enchanted ice that never cracks or melts.
- Shardmere: A mining and refining district located around the southern cliffs. Here, workers extract the radiant Shards, the heart of Frostgard’s wealth. The crystals are treated with reverence, often used in architecture, magic, and trade with foreign realms.
- Velrun Pass: A fortified settlement guarding the mountain route leading northward. Though Frostgard is peaceful, this pass remains a testament to its vigilance and diplomacy, soldiers stationed here are trained more in mediation than in warfare.
- Everhollow Gardens: A vast enclosed sanctuary where flora grows in eternal frost, maintained through ancient enchantments. Diplomats often meet here under domes of shimmering ice to negotiate treaties and settle disputes.
Notable Features:
- The Shardlight Veins: Vast networks of glowing purple crystals that run beneath Frostgard’s soil, believed to be remnants of Arfan’s essence, the god whose death infused the land with power.
- The Hall of Concord: A grand chamber where emissaries from distant kingdoms gather; Frostgard’s monarch often mediates conflicts between nations here.
- The Eternal Hearth: A sacred flame in the capital that burns with violet light, said to draw its power from Arfan’s lingering spirit, symbolizing warmth amid endless winter.
Frostgard stands as a beacon of balance in a frozen world, a realm where diplomacy thrives over conquest and where the death of a god gave birth to peace and quiet prosperity.
