Deepsea Bandits
Current Status
The Deepsea Bandits are now considered defunct. Their once-formidable fleet was completely destroyed by the Dread Pirates during the northern assaults. Of the nearly five thousand sailors who once served under Captain Donnie Robertson, none survived—save for the crew’s Council Coin Holder, Eric Jester, who was not present during the attack. What remains of the Deepsea Bandits are burned hulls, scattered wreckage, and the warnings left behind by the Lich of the Seas. Their banners are no longer flown. Their ports stand abandoned. Their name is now spoken only in cautionary tales.
History
The Deepsea Bandits, once led by the shrewd and charismatic Captain Donnie Robertson, operated throughout the northern waters of Azeroth. Their strength lay not only in numbers—9 Battle Barges, 5 Ships of the Line, and nearly five thousand sailors—but also in their unmatched skill in deepwater salvage, capable of retrieving relics and treasures lost to the abyss.Over the years, the Bandits built a reputation as cooperative salvagers rather than conquerors. They worked alongside other pirate factions, including the Nightsong Reavers and the Blackwater Company, assisting in efforts to reclaim Kalimdor’s coasts following the Fourth War and the Blacktooth Ravagers’ incursions. Their greatest claim to fame was the recovery of a rare titan relic, sold for a fortune that secured their place among the wealthier Free Seas crews.
Though never the most aggressive of pirates, they commanded deep respect. Donnie Robertson’s leadership was marked by sharp wit, keen tactical sense, and a willingness to partner rather than pillage. Their Council representation through Eric Jester further solidified their legitimacy among the Free Seas.
All of that ended when the Dread Pirates, empowered by necromantic tides and led by the Lich of the Seas, ambushed their fleet in the shrouded northern waters. Within hours, the Bandits were annihilated—every ship broken, every crewman slain or raised, their flagship run aground and impaled by bone serpents as a warning.
Only Eric Jester, absent on Council business, remains.
The Deepsea Bandits are now spoken of in memorial, their coin silent, their decks cold, their legacy swallowed by the deep.
