The 32nd Anniversary of the Defeat of the Montserous Kraken
Today we are celebrating the 32nd anniversary of the day the Sea Goddess Shae defeated the Kraken and its six-year campaign of destruction. In thanks, we will retell the story of her victory and the lives she saved.
The realm was being attacked by an army of angels, sent from the heavens by an angry goddess named Lady Fate. For months we were at war trying to protect our home, that was until Fate was defeated by a group of strange heroes. Her death caused a great light to emerge from her corpse and overlap all of the Barren and stopped our celebration. The light and its magic had broken the seals that held the Kraken asleep beneath the waves. Now for the 2nd time in history, the Kraken attacked the Requian Empire, and the Kraken Priest couldn't stop it. The monster devastated the land and destroyed the Empire. We all lost hope until our prayers were answered. The Goddess of Nature Shae, Queen of the Waves came and fought the Kraken for six hours. Eventually, she forced the Kraken back into its cage and sealed it and herself inside so that neither of them could see the light of day again.
Now this story is the single most important piece of Requian history by far as it caused a lot to change since that day. The Requian Empire had been dissolved to just a region of the coast, given to them by the newly in power Sea's Appeal, a theocracy that worships Shae. A new ecosystem including literal flying fish and wolf sharks, and a beautiful but dangerous coral forest.
Like every year Lady Scalesworth, the wealthiest merchant in Seaview will be throwing her Shae Ball at her mansion in the Empire's District. There will be food, music, and wine for those attending, and only by invitation. Many celebrities will be there so make sure to stop by and see their beautiful dresses and spiffy tuxes.
