Steerbright

Steerbright is a land of stark contrasts, where towering, jagged peaks rise above frostbitten plains, and the roar of icy winds is matched only by the echoes of clashing steel. Nestled in the eastern reaches of The Ancient Reach, it is a kingdom shaped by its brutal history and the indomitable spirit of its Orcish inhabitants. Once a unified land forged through conquest during the bloody 40-Year War with the Dwarves, Steerbright now stands divided, its rugged landscapes reflecting the fractured nature of its rule. The kingdom is split between two rival Orc tribes: the Bloodfangs, who dominate the northern mountains and central highlands, and the Bloodmoons, who have reclaimed the hostile southern regions bordering the Shrieking Sea. This division has transformed Steerbright into a realm of perpetual tension, where tribal feuds and power struggles overshadow any semblance of peace. The Bloodfangs uphold the old Orcish traditions of strength and hierarchy, enforcing their rule with a mix of fear and respect. In contrast, the Bloodmoons have grown more insular and aggressive, ruling their barren lands with ruthless pragmatism and treating any outsiders as enemies.   Steerbright’s environment mirrors the harshness of its people. Snow-draped peaks of the Dragon Spine Mountain Range define its northern and eastern borders, creating a natural fortress that isolates the kingdom from its neighbors. To the west, the Frostvein River carves through frozen plains, its icy waters serving as both a lifeline and a strategic boundary. The southern coastline, battered by the relentless waves of the Shrieking Sea, is a desolate expanse where the Bloodmoon tribe's strongholds stand like grim sentinels against the horizon.   Despite its hostility, Steerbright possesses a raw, untamed beauty. Its valleys are dotted with hardy evergreens, while the mountain passes glitter with veins of rare minerals, including the coveted drakthorite, remnants of the dwarven era. These resources fuel the Orcs’ ongoing survival and occasional trade with neighboring kingdoms, though such exchanges are rare and fraught with tension. The land's isolation has also allowed a variety of wild creatures to thrive, from frostwolves prowling the tundra to massive wyverns nesting in the cliffs.    Steerbright is not just a land of conflict but a symbol of Orcish resilience. Its people, hardened by centuries of strife, are bound to their rugged homeland by ties of blood, tradition, and pride. For outsiders, the kingdom is a place of danger and mystery—a realm where survival depends on strength, and the scars of its tumultuous past shape its ever-uncertain future.
