Commonwealth Navy

The Commonwealth Navy is the space warfare branch of the Commonwealth Armed Forces. The Navy's main goal is to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring piracy, and keeping Commonwealth systems safe and secured. The Commonwealth Navy was formed in 2050 alongside the Commonwealth Army and Commonwealth Marines. The Navy ensures safe deployment of army and marine forces, as well as leading anti-piracy operations and ensuring the safety of the Commonwealth's borders from internal and external threats.    

Doctrine and Composition

The Commonwealth Navy is the main space combat force that is tasked with protecting human colonies, space stations, and other human interests.   The Commonwealth Navy consists of over 490 ships that are divided between 20 fleets, with at least one dreadnought in each fleet. Each fleet is then divided into three flotillas, allowing for smaller detachments to break off to either achieve several goals at once or to address smaller threats. Fleets however are designed around their dreadnoughts, and the composition of each fleet is designed to protect and enhance the abilities of the dreadnought, while still providing a sizable amount of the fleet to increase the fleet's overall firepower.
