Nandor Lamora
"Nandor Lamora? Please, I've paid my rent twice over thanks to his disasters. He makes scandal an art form, and he's prolific."
Background and Upbringing
Nandor Lamora was born to a minor branch of House Lamora, so distant from the line of succession that his title was more ceremonial than practical. Raised with all the middling privileges of the aristocracy but none of the burdens of duty, Nandor’s youth was defined by laziness, indulgence, and a startling ability to coast. From an early age, he displayed a superficial cleverness—a talent for skimming the surface of intellectual topics just enough to appear precocious. He directed conversation away from his gaps in understanding and towards obscure, flashy tidbits that impressed adults. This tactic—shallow charm and calculated deceit—was the only real lesson he carried into adulthood.
The Student, the Scandal, the Scorn
Nandor attended the prestigious Academy of Titan, but his tenure ended in a flurry of scandal after his repeated indiscretions with fellow students and local civilians resulted in a string of illegitimate children. His casual cruelty and refusal to acknowledge the consequences earned him a grim nickname among the gossips of Titan: the "emergency heir factory." Recalled in disgrace to a remote orbital art vault belonging to House Lamora, he was assigned to curate their archives and stripped of most of his trust fund. That money, House Lamora decided, would be better spent discreetly supporting the mothers of his children to avoid legal and social fallout.
The Desperate Archivist and the Diplomat
Isolated on a station above Venus, Nandor’s lifestyle became constrained, his access to vice and luxury limited by both finances and geography. Desperation set in, but his parasitic charm found new prey. He began cultivating relationships with visiting gallery patrons and embassy staff, who brought him just enough wine and Social Chems to throw modest parties. During one of these, he met Thistle Tzuriel of Deimos, a soft-spoken, eager-to-please diplomat representing Clan Tzuriel. Nandor saw an easy mark and quickly cultivated a "friendship." Thistle began smuggling in forbidden pleasures under the guise of diplomatic goodwill, unaware that Nandor had wildly exaggerated his own rank in House Lamora.
Dorothy Mea and the Faked Elopement
Among the many who fell for Nandor’s charm was Dorothy Mea, daughter of a House Lamora servant and an aspiring actress on summer leave from the Université du Aphrodite Urania. Nandor seduced her with promises of a grand future and an elaborate mock elopement, featuring a faux ceremony with an actor posing as an officiant. The joke backfired, however—the friend Dorothy brought to perform the ceremony was not only an actor but a fully licensed registrar. By the time the ink dried, Nandor was legally wed under a monogamous contract.
The Coup Attempt and the Broken Ambassador
Luz Asher, Thistle’s beautiful and successful fiancée, arrived on Venus near the end of his term. Nandor initially pursued her out of petty desire but discovered her wealth and influence, pivoting from flirtation to full-scale seduction. When conventional charm failed, he hired a Psychojack named Skotia to psionically manipulate Luz. Under Skotia’s subtle influence, Luz became more susceptible to Nandor’s advances. He arranged a lavish public proposal—during a cousin’s coming-out ball, naturally—where she accepted, much to the shock and dismay of both Thistle and Dorothy, who were in attendance.
Murder Contract and Flight
Privately, Dorothy confronted Nandor and revealed their marriage was legal. Rather than risk the alimony clause, he simply ordered her murder. He gave her a head start for dramatic flair and activated the death contract through the House Lamora assassin Invidius. Dorothy fled, dragging a grief-shattered Thistle with her. Nandor, content, called off the contract—until he caught wind of Solarnet gossip suggesting Dorothy might go public with her story. Panic set in. He reinstated the kill order and doubled down on the theatrics.
The Spectacle of the Century
Nandor turned his upcoming wedding to Luz into a planetary media event, equal parts self-promotion and misdirection. He invited Great House nobles, tech moguls, celebrities, and influencers, flooding the Solarnet with rumors of attendees and hinting at a major social coup over Clan Tzuriel. Behind the scenes, he remained obsessed with silencing Dorothy and making his wedding a final insult to both her and Thistle. To the public, it’s a wedding. To Nandor, it’s a battlefield—one where he plans to emerge as victor, adored and untouchable.
Current Status
As of the most recent updates, Nandor remains holed up in House Lamora territory on Venus, micromanaging every detail of his wedding with sadistic precision. Invidius and his crew continue the hunt for Dorothy, unaware that a knight-errant, an ex-strategist, and a grumpy Engineer may soon interfere in ways even Nandor cannot spin.
He has no idea that his reckoning is en route—and it has a very sharp sword.
