Magic Information

There is a balance in magic and always a cost.
Magic is tied to different sources, which require a unique approach depending on the type of Magic in question.

TYPES OF MAGIC

The names of each Magic Type originate from the ancient scripts of the Quen’siran.

- ELEMENTAL MAGIC SCHOOL

Elemental Magic draws upon nature. It drains energy from the surroundings to control the elements. This, in turn, takes all the life force from one target and gives it to another. Any living organism can be harnessed as a source of power, but it will ultimately kill it in the process.   Air Magic = The Art of Zephyra
Earth Magic = The Art of Theralis
Fire Magic = The Art of Emberis
Water Magic = The Art of Tidalys

- ARCANE MAGIC SCHOOL

Arcane Magic draws upon mystical forces. This energy source remains a mystery.   Illusion Magic = The Art of Shadewyn
Conjuration Magic = The Art of Encyra
Summoning Magic = The Art of Summara
Void Magic = The Art of Nethyra

- SOUL MAGIC SCHOOL

Soul Magic draws upon the life force (Soul Essence) of its caster and/or the life force of others. By actively channeling the Soul Essence, a great deal of power can be utilized at the expense of the Soul Essence. This is the purest form of magic, as well as the most destructive one. Most Soul Magic remains unknown to most practitioners of the Ancient Arts.   Essence Magic = The Art of Essynthar
Essence Magic, also known as Soul Magic, requires pure Soul Essence to be utilized. Soul Magic can be used by either draining the Soul Essence of the caster or another equal entity. This is among the least known magic types used as there is very little information currently known. This magic is very pure and powerful, and can be used for great destruction or powerful restoration. It's also the most dangerous magic to wield, as it can easily kill the caster.
Blood Magic = The Art of Sanguira
To use Blood Magic, a caster must draw power from another living entity. This can be done through a sacrificial ritual, which is the most potent method, or by consuming fragments of the entity’s essence, most commonly blood. While the latter spares the entity’s life, it often leads to mental instability in the caster. This psychosis can drive the caster to madness. Unlike most other Magic Types, Blood Magic comes with a dangerous addiction that, once tasted, becomes nearly impossible to stop wielding.
Life Magic = The Art of Vitalis
Necromancy Magic = The Art of Necronis
Spirit Magic = The Art of Spirithys

- DIVINE MAGIC SCHOOL

Divine Magic draws upon the powers of the mythos. This is believed to channel energy from a deity or a demonic entity. A lot like Blood Magic, which uses rituals or sacrifice to empower the caster, Divine Magic relies on a deep connection with a mysterious entity.   Restoration Magic = The Art of Elunara
Retribution Magic = The Art of Wratharis
Shadow Magic = The Art of Shadralis
Holy Magic = The Art of Sanctyra

HOW TO CONTROL MAGIC

  • Soul Essence
The Soul Essence of the caster is drained when using magic. Explore Soul Essence here: Soul Essence.
  • What are the consequences of Magic?
When the caster performs Magic, they are always at risk. Depending on the Magic in question, the risk will vary greatly. All forms of Magic demand precision and can be fatal and/or cause great harm to the caster if they fail to focus or perform the ritual correctly. Emotions play a significant role in how various aspects of Magic can be utilized, as well as the dangers and consequences associated with its use.
  • Can anyone wield Magic?
Yes and no, while anyone is technically able to use Magic, it demands complete devotion in order to become a Mage.
Magic takes years to control and to be able to use, and its teachings are difficult to master.
The concept of Magic is an intentionally unknown and highly protected secret that, for the most part, remains a myth to the general population of the world.
With all the dangers that ensue from learning to master this art, the students are hand-picked by Emissaries or Elders of Magical Orders, like Elvanor.
Even with the best guidance, Magic can prove fatal to anyone who takes it lightly.
