Simply put, Beastfolk walk the line between Beast and man. They are a handsbredth above the creatures of the world, at least in biology and appearance. To people who aren't used to they're specific type of creature, they can look rather savage and possibly uncivilized and wild. However, to anyone who spends time with them, they are easily known as kind, intelligent, and empatheic cretures.
Like the Ruo, Beastfolk is a general term with many highly varied subspecies. Most are undocumented, but there are several overarching types currently being recorded.
Shared traits
Despite the incredibly wide variety of subspecies, and belive me, there are, there are several traits that seem to apply to them all.
Oneness with nature
Beastfolk are incredibly suited to their enviroments. From an understanding of their home ecosystem to the natural protections they posses to best suvive, a beastfolk will always come out on top. In their home enviroments, the beastfolk will never be unaware of everything going on. Given this, however, Beastfolk tend to stay where they are from. they aren't adventurous or particularly mobile outside of their chosen areas, much like their biological ancestors.
Extra...everything
When comparing a beastfolk to the average humanoid, the beastfolk will appear to have extra senses, extra abilities, or extra skills. In their connection with their enviroment and their roots, Beastfolk usually have the skills and abilities of the creatures they most closely resemble, like echolocation for a bat or incredible agility for a feline.
A General Disconnect
Beastfolk, like ruo, don't quite agree with the concept of organized civilization. they are civilized of course, they just don't like...civilization. They tend ot live in family units or on their own with a social network that stretches far and wide. And structures they build are usually unharmful, mostly natural, or completely temporary. Their dislike isn't so far stretched into true distain for civilization, but they tend to avoid it.
There are exceptions, of course, but it's very rare to find a Beastfolk move to a city and stay there for longer than necessary.
Geographic Distrobution
Being as suited to a wide variety of climates as they are, Beastfolk are generally found in the south, as with many other Beast Kind. They are more common on the
Bengvarian Fist,
The Tail,
Ridge-Back Rainforest, the
Nuoj Desert, and throughout
The Eastern Glades
