The Temperate Zone

An Awakening World of Forests and Water

In this region, Thaldris begins to change significantly. The islands grow larger, the barren, rocky landscapes give way to vast expanses of real soil, and the first dense forests begin to spread. Nature here is no longer just a struggle for survival—it starts to truly flourish.   The coastlines are less rugged than in the north. Gentle bays appear where the sea calms, and the fjords that once defined the tundra give way to open waterways stretching between green landmasses.

Geological Structure

The rocky substrate is still present but increasingly covered with fertile soil and dense root networks. Some islands have gentle hills that serve as natural water reservoirs, enabling the growth of larger plants. Cliffs still exist, but they are less sharp-edged—now covered in moss and vegetation.

Flora & Fauna

The forests here are no longer sparse—early conifers and hardy deciduous trees dominate the landscape. Larger mammals begin to inhabit the islands, adapted to the temperate climate, including predatory land hunters. More bird species appear, particularly waterfowl, adjusting to the calmer coastal lines. Marine life thrives—fish populations grow, and sea creatures frequently move near the coasts.

Climate & Weather

Temperatures range between 0°C and +25°C, depending on seasons and solar phases. Rainfall becomes more frequent—gentle showers help maintain healthy vegetation. The strong northern winds subside, but occasional storms, influenced by ocean currents, still occur.

Transition to the Next Zone

The closer one moves toward the equator, the denser the vegetation becomes. Forests expand, the climate stabilizes, and islands begin to merge into vast landmasses. Here begins the warmest zone of Thaldris.
