The Grand Global War

The Grand Global War is still ongoing till the present day, with Biodoma sparking the conflict officially when they decided to invade Skydria. With Hithel joining in a couple of weeks after the war was declared, Biodoma decided to call their allies from the Pact of Empires. This spark Skydria to call in all of their commonwealths and colonies to join in on the war from an alliance simply known as the League of Allies, turning this into a global war.

The Conflict

Prelude

During the beginning of the age the World Conference of Outstanding Countries disbanded declaring their disbandment to be the beginning of the Age of Conquest. Emperor Minus Cato pointed out that King Hellington IV, his ancestors and the Greater Skydrian Empire was trying to impose the Skydrian way of life since the beginning of the Age of Exploration. King Hellington would refute this claim by saying, "What I do is for the good of my people and my people alone, many leaders of this World Conference standing here today are nothing but tyrants that imposes there will on their own people. Throughout history many of our nations would go on competing for land in Aura and abroad, including yours, Minus Cato. It is not my fault if your citizens want to adapt our ideals and customs." This statement would upset mostly everyone in the room including Skydria's closes allies at the time, this would be the start of many treaties being broken and torn.   Despite Biodoma and Skydria being major allies throughout the ages, many high-ranking officials within the Biodoman government towards the end of the Age of Invention would heavily dislike the Skydrian dominance it had in the world. For many ages, Biodoma would generally be in the shadow of Skydria, the pervious Biodoman Emperor, Raxus Cato and the pervious Skydrian King, Lenard Hellington II work together closely despite this. Once they both died the new Emperor of Biodoma and King of Skydria didn't completely understand the purpose of such a close relationship, the arguments in the finial World Conference meeting built this resentment further until all-out war.   Other well establish nations generally felt the same about Skydrian Supremacy, during most of the Age of Invention, Skydria had the largest Navy, largest economy, it also had the most colonies with many of those colonies becoming Commonwealths. Skydria was leading the world in technology and progress, many other citizens from other nations would want to adapt to these new changes and slowly over time, nations within Skydria's influence sphere would naturally become more like them slowly stripping away at unique cultures. Skydria viewed this as a good thing as most of the time, this brought basic human rights to countries that perviously didn't have them.   After the World Conference, Emperor Minus Cato would invent Hyper Traditionalism and declared in a speech, "The Age of Conquest is now here, we shall reject Skydrian Modernization and de-throne the country of Skydria as the leading nation in the world. Instead, I am forming a Pact of Empires to forage a new path, adapting new the ways of the future without sacrificing who we are as a nation. We will first start by giving back our colonies to original host nations but also restore our traditional borders within Aura by invading Reiberg and claiming Lyland back for ourselves."   The King of Skydria then responded by forming the League of Allies to counter Biodoman aggression, Reiberg would request to join by Skydria rejected them and wanted to avoid conflict. After Biodoma seized Lyland, Emperor Minus Cato would refocused to Skydria despite King Edward Hellington not wanting a war to breakout and stayed out of the affairs of the Reiberg-Doman War.

Deployment

Biodoma sent 1st and 4th Exercitus, along its Southern Border while preparing to invade Skydria, they also had with 3rd Classis to support in the skies as Emperor Minus Cato was sure he would face heavy resistance in the air. 4th Exercitus was to make the initial charge with 1st Exercitus was to follow behind. Just like the Reiberg-Doman War, Biodoma didn't want to call its allies for this conflict and wanted to keep the war as contain as possible, but Emperor Minus Cato told the other countries to remain on standby just in case the League of Allies supports Skydria. Emperor Minus Cato also wanted to personally oversee the success of the offensive and so he would be located in the Province of Posedonia to give orders.   Skydria had 5th Royal Field Army and 2nd Royal Fleet in garrison Rodria, through pictures taken in the air King Edward Hellington saw the mass of Legionnaires gathering on its northern border and order the 5th Royal Field Army to be on high alert. Amilia Sky Station and Callen Stronghold were used as staging grounds for the Royal Navy and Army respectfully for the Rodria region. Field Marshal Dwight Kimbel suspected if the Biodomans were to attack they would aim for the military bases first, so all of 9th Royal Corps were to set up a defensive line 100 miles away from the Stronghold. Meanwhile 10th Royal Corps were to cover the right flank of the main defensive line, creating a classic L shape defensive. Field Marshal Dwight Kimbel would only allow 30th Royal Infantry Division to defend Astrofall despite being very strategic to the region and Rodira's largest city, he also authorized the use of 20 experimental Steam Golems detached from the Infantry Division.

The Engagement

Biodoma attacked Skydria in the 6th year of the Age of Conquest in the morning of Nintim 26th launching their offensive into the region of Rodria within the 1st Week the Biodoman Legion engaged the Skydrian Royal Army in 3 main fronts. The 1st Infantry Legion would clash with the 30th Royal Infantry Division all the way to Astrofall, meanwhile the 2nd and 3rd Infantry Legion fought the 28th and 29th Royal Infantry Division over the town of Jolton. Field Marshall Kimbel was caught off guard as the main bulk of 1st Exercitus was heading directly towards Astrofall and the surrounding areas instead of Callen Stronghold. The Kimbel Defensive Line only faced preparatory Vulpes Auxierallies for the 1st week of the war, Emperor Minus Cato wanted to capture Astrofall and see the full extent of the defensive line before letting more military units engage with the bulk of the 9th Royal Corp. The emperor then wanted to try and use the railways in Astrofall to go behind Kimbel Lines. As the 2nd week rolls around the Battle of Astrofall came and passed, Astrofall was captured despite the 30th Royal Infantry Division's valiant efforts and was pushed back into Hyper Canyon. Despite Astrofall's capture, the Kimbel Defensive line held steady as more and more Legionnaires were heading towards the front. During the 3rd week of the war the Kimbel Defensive line was in shambles and the whole 5th Royal Field Army was forced to retreat and regroup 40 miles, but this wasn't because of the capture of Astrofall. The emperor couldn't utilize Astrofall's train system due to many of the main train lines being damage during the battle and Biodoman trains being different gauges than Skydrians. The line fell due Biodoma's newest mech war engines and Kimbel using old Skydrian textbook tactics. The Royal Navy were also unable to support Kimbel due to suffering major losses at Astrofall and being tied up fighting 3rd Classis for most of the 3rd week. Even though Hithel wasn't initially apart of the League of Allies and promised Biodoma that they wouldn't interfere with the war, the King of Hithel launch a surprise offensive expanding out to the province of Macitus and Podonia towards the end of the 3rd week. This would be the temporary distraction that Skydria needed to properly reform its lines by the end of the month and have Field Marshal Kimbel meet with Admiral Darren Lux to come up with a proper defensive plan.   Internally Skydria were slow to mobilize, the Royal Army was having trouble using sky transports due to anti-air arterially mechs being stragetically placed near the front lines by Biodoma. The sky transports that were supplied to the Royal Army were out dated, slow and couldn't fly as high of an attitude compared to Royal Navy ships, the Royal Navy also had to provide escorts to ensure the transports to land safely. After loosing over 20 transports within the first month of the war it was determined by Skydrian High Command that all transports supply or otherwise shall land 120 miles away from the front or in official military bases, then arrive as close to the front by train. Field Marshal Kimbel was made a fool of because he previously order the sabotage of most main rail lines due to the initial capture of Astrofall, so new rail lines would have to be made or old ones had to be repair in order to supply the front at a steady pace when Biodoma launched another offensive.   When Hithel attacked, this came in as a shock to the Emperor as Hithel and Skydria were long time rivals many Duxi would try and warn the Emperor to attack Hithel along with Skydria before the war. However Emperor Minus Cato instead would meet with the Hithelian King to discus a deal that would not allow them enter in the war once its start. Emperor Minus Cato was forced back into Doma so that he could properly call on the Pact of Empires to all join in on the war. Once the Emperor left the front, this led to problems within Biodoman high commands, it is of the opinion of most Doxi that under any situation due to being so well trained the lower grade Legionnaire Officer is expected to always make the right calls at the right times. Anytime an lower grade officers majorly failed, this would usually lead to either unit transfers or a reduction in rank for the officer, the Emperor does not share this idea so once he left the front there was no one to stopped the transfer process of these lower ranking officers. The Dux in charge of 1st Exercitus made a list of all the officers who he deemed as failures during the 1st month of the offensive, despite reaching all 1st month war goals. This led to officers being traded out regularly as the Dux would personally oversee the transfer of officers. This would end up causing a minor destabilization amongst the Legion as the experience officers who had seen action would leave and newly train officers would come in.   Hithel haven't fought a proper land war in decades and thus despite gaining about 125 miles of ground in Macitus and about 45 miles of ground in Podonia, they would quickly loose this ground along with half of its army.

POV - You're an American writing a British based Kingdom: "King Hellingtom IV"   Such a stereotypical name, it's hilarious

May 17, 2022 09:29

Please tell me how

May 17, 2022 09:32

Hellington isn't even a common surname in England, you rather I went with something more generic?

May 17, 2022 11:52

No, It's just so stereotypical. Also, is there a Hellington castle in skydria, since the Surname of noblemen tend to be from the castles they originally lives in. E.g. The Queen is a Windsor, and the Habsburgs lived originally in Habsburg Castle

May 17, 2022 20:34

Okay again, please tell me how Hellington is stereotypical also yes there is a Hellington Castle located in Fairfax.

May 18, 2022 10:15

It's just the sound of the name if you have a "ington" at the end of the name, usually. And I've never actually heard of that castle before, I should look it up

May 18, 2022 11:40

It's a made up castle and a made up last name in a made up world that isn't Earth.
