History
It is believed that Nishikuni is the second oldest human civilization in the World of Teth with their original settlement being located south of the Enchanted Forest where humanity first emerged. Despite being next to Athiea, the Elves didn't interact much with Nishikuni as they were shelter away by the Tengu and Kappa respectfully. The Tengu and Kappa manage to help the people of Nishikuni establish the city of Honkita and decided to teach one human their spiritual ways, this human ended up becoming the High Emperor Ming Xion. Nishikuni quickly grew to rival Biodoma and they had many border conflicts during the Age of Creation.
During the Age of Antiquity, Nishikuni was key to push back the Biodoman tides and become the first nation to ever defeat Biodoma in an open field battle with all samurai clans uniting under the first shogun's banner personally chosen by the High Emperor. Nishikuni would remain rivals with Biodoma until a giant sinkhole formed under neath Honkita forever trapping it underground. Scholars to this day don't know why the city sunk underground, but ancient writings say it was old Elven magic used by a rouge Elven agent. After this event, the High Emperor took his people to the lands of Najuka. Once they arrived the High Emperor founded Sasuki to forever be the seat of power in these strange new lands. Instantly, he told his 6 Samurai clans to spread out and find new lands to settle. Unlike Aura, Najuka was a very hostile land, so each Samurai clan had to quickly build castle towns to safeguard its citizens. Travel between the castle town would be very dangerous without the Samurai's protection or paid escorts, during this time many citizens started to develop different fighting styles to deal with the creatures. Because of this each castle town would develop its own martial arts schools, that would host yearly tournaments. You also had the first formation of personal armies of everyday citizens to protect more and more trade routes throughout the lands. Xionism also took form, due to the High Emperor being immortal and castle towns being hard to reach for common people, Sasuki quickly became this holy land to many people within Nishikuni, a place with no hardship or worries. The religion would spread around and everyone began to believe that the High Emperor was a god that saved his people from clamity time and time again. Towards the end of the Age, the High Emperor established the Shogunate to lead the country, collect tribute and carry out the High Emperor's will.
During the Age of Darkness, Nishikuni had largely dealt with most hostile creatures with its borders any many villages started to take form during time. With the total number of samurai clans now being 10, many border disputes to full on total war took place between the clans. The establishment of different Shinobi Leagues became established during this time, with clans being able to sabotage each other. The High Emperor would allow this go on, as long as everyone paid tribute to Sasuki and bowed to the High Emperor. However, to resolve some of these issues the High Emperor hosted Tournament of Glory for when the Shogun seat becomes vacant. Every samurai clan can select two warriors to fight in this tournament, with the winner becoming the next Shogun. Shortly after the establishment of the tourament, the High Emperor would also begin to hibernate 10 years at a time, only coming out to governor his country in times of peril. One of these times was when giant sea creatures started to attack villiages and cities on the coastlines, like Ages past, all clans became united and marched out against these giant sea-creatures with the High Emperor sealing them away underneath the waves. After this event, the clans would go back to plotting against each other, with hostile creatures coming back due to neglect from different Samurai clans. It was also during this time an 11th samurai clan would go out to find the country of Fangnam away from the High Emperor's eyes.
Demography and Population
The population of Nishikuni is around 95 Million people.
Military
The Nishikuni military has three separated branches being the Imperial Nishikuni Army, the Imperial Nishikuni Navy and the Imperial Samurai Corps.
Every citizen has the right to join the Imperial Army or Navy, the Samurai Corps are only exclusive to established samurai families, with the Shogun leading all three. When the 10 samurai clans disbanded, the Samurai Corps was made in its place, instead of governing people the samurai were now to be elite fighting troops and protectors of the realm. While the Imperial Army and Navy do the heavy lifting, the Samurai Corps are used for more special combat engagements, but can still be deployed in large units.
