Tallent

The Tallent is the standard unit of currency in the Berytusian Empire, officially worth 5 grams of pure silver. The standard coinage of the Empire was once the Imperial Valer, but debasing of the currency to pay for military supplies during the Amellion Revolt required total renomination in 840. It is the second most common international currency, along with the Enetoi Livre, and valued for its consistent and reliable specifications.   The Tallent is divided into 100 Hecta, and the average price of a loaf of bread has floated around 30 Hecta since adoption of the currency. The average daily wages of a laborer in Berytus is approximately 1 Tallent. There exist both Hecta and Talent coins, as well as paper banknotes for multiples of Tallents in the denominations 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100. Hecta are coined from Brass, an inexpensive metal, while Tallents themselves are minted from silver.   Minting is conducted by the Imperial Treasury, under the supervision of the Imperial See's Cardinalcy of Weights and Measures, which has overseen the uniformity of the pound and meter since 207.
