Paul Simon
Paul Simon (34 Monikon 45 IB – 33 Lysandros 110) was the second Metropolitan of the Unbroken Church from 90 IB to 110, and a major figure in Emunite dogma and theology as the author of the Book of Simon and leader of the First Council of Berytus.
Paul was the scribe and later personal envoy of Iban Acacias, and enjoyed great favor among the priests in Berytus. His high theology, called Simonism, forms the basis of all subsequent orthodox Emuna. He promoted the co-eternity of the Heliand and Ancient of Days, and rejected Semelism's conflation of Beorn with the Heliand. He published the Book of Simon in 64 IB partially to counter Semelcar's claims about Acacius. After the death of Iban Acacias in 90 IB, he was elected Metropolitan immediately after, and many in the court sought to make him emperor. But he convoked the First Council of Berytus immediately, and totally separated the political and religious leadership of Berytus, as well as fully enforcing Simonism as the sole theology of Emuna.
He is considered one of the greatest metropolitans, and venerated in both the Haugrkirk Emuna and Imperial See as a saint. His relics remain under an altar in the Megabasilica of Berytus, and many miraculous healings are attributed to his intercession. He is the patron saint of authors, theologians, and reformers.
