Ritual of Lichdom

The Ritual of Lichdom is the forsaken, much maligned process a mortal may use to become a Lich. The steps to the ritual are seldom easily obtained, as both Liches and those who fear them have much reason to keep the ritual hidden. Anyone who wishes to become a Lich must usually spend many years simply sourcing the methodology, and more still actually putting it into practice. Thankfully, this, combined with the reality that most mortals abandon their dreams of Lichdom before going through with it, means Liches are a rare sight.

The Ritual

The following are the steps to successfully enacting the Ritual of Lichdom:

• Gather the full blood content of thirteen members of your species.
• Gather seven gallons of ruby dust.
• Brew a concentrated tincture with the poison of a death cap mushroom harvested under a full moon.
• Under the darkness of a new moon, trace a specific glyph on a polished floor of jade, using all of the blood.
• Dust the glyph evenly with the ruby dust, using all of it.
• Place an object in the exact center of the glyph, and stand directly above it.
• Drink the poison tincture.
• At the moment of your death, before your body strikes the floor, someone must finish casting True Resurrection on you, using the spread ruby dust to fuel the spell.

If all has been done accordingly, you will rise from your momentary death as a Lich. The object placed in the center will become your phylactery.
