Moulderghoul

A mata-ruum, or moulderghoul, is a specific type of undead found only in the depths of Northfeir, spawned from the forgotten chambers of the Shuru Crypts. A corpse laid to rest in those endless halls becomes a moulderghoul if the memory of it fades from all living things before the last of its flesh has rotted away.

A moulderghoul is an especially aggressive undead, chasing down the living the moment it senses them. The bite of a moulderghoul is strange, as they do not crave the flesh of the living. Rather, they seek to implant the memories of their lives back into the world. When a moulderghoul bite finds purchase, the mental strain is causes is far worse than the physical damage, as the victim's mind is forcibly flooded with memories of a forgotten life.
