The RUGL Gourmand

Rumor has it that during the construction of Reet University, when its elaborate tunnel system was getting built out, a secret cache of vampire cultists was discovered in a section of cave uncovered by the construction. The school was able to drive them off but not before their leader cursed them and swore revenge.  

I will return and haunt these halls of your institution, feeding on your young and vigorous until they are naught but mere husks!

  Nothing seemed to come of it for a while but for the last few decades, every few years, some of the freshmen class will get paler and more exhausted until eventually they stop showing up to school. Were they drained by the cultist leader? Did they turn and continue the Gourmand's legacy? No one can say for sure…

RUGL has a vast network of underground tunnels, some of which allegedly shift or move at times. It's said that no map has been able to capture the actual layout of the tunnels, and given their presumably changing geographical location it can be hard to say whether they did or did not at one point intersect a natural cave system. No public records have been located that speak to the presence of a vampiric cult under (or anywhere nearby) NRC.

The RUGL Gourmand is a relatively well known legend among the RUGL student body, passed down by word-of-mouth from upperclassmen to incoming freshmen.

Most accounts describe the origin as a vampire cult and a curse from their leader, but some variations present it as werewolves, devils, or other types of energy-feasting mythical entities.
