Modakin Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office is a single story building that sits at the southwest corner of the middle of town in Modakin. The front of the building is set back from the road with a covered wood plank porch. One window with arched text "Sheriff" painted on the glass is placed to the right of a solid wood door that is propped open during the hot days of summer, and closed during the cold winter nights.
Inside, one is immediately stopped by two desks. One of the desks is used by the deputy sheriffs and is typically staffed by at least one person. The other desk is used by the Sheriff, allow the sheriff to do the work required by the government to document the activities and crimes of the area. Beside each desk are cabinets holding a random assortment of goods used by or kept safe by the Sheriff's department.
Straight back from the desks, and in view from the entrance are the jail cells used to hold people before being transferred to the local district court. Most of the time, they are used for a place to hold people who have had a few too many whiskey's at the Fearless Sword, but they have occasionally held serious criminals who have killed, raped, and/or murdered people across the area.
One such criminal, Floyd Blackjack was busted out of the jail after the sheriff found him passed out drunk behind the Beard and Barrel Brewery. Realizing who he had in custody, the Sheriff sent for backup from the next town over. However, before he could extradite his catch, Blackjack's gang of bandits came to town, and fought their way through the Sheriff and his deputies. Floyd then killed the sole remaining deputy with the deputy’s disarmed pistol in the Modakin streets after the deputy surrendered. One can still see the damage to the building and walls from the fight.
