Order of the Golden Phoenix
Order of the Golden Phoenix is a knightly order whose history goes back to the reign of Emperor Alexander the First at the very beginning of the Inherited Empire. Some historians say that the Order was a predecessor of the Empire and one of the first organization humans founded after arriving in Terra Nova. According to legends, knights of the order accompanied Alexander during his first expeditions to survey the newly discovered elven ruins.
Today, the Order of the Golden Phoenix serves as an elite military unit in the Empire as well as the bodyguards of Emperors and Empresses. Every Emperor or Empress automatically becomes the Sovereign of the order. It commemorates Alexander's role in the founding of the order.
Recruitment
To become a member of the Order one must be a knight who has demonstrated extraordinary bravery in the service of the Empire. Both men and women can join, but only if they are of noble birth. Their accomplishements and bravery are reviewed by the leadership of the Order. If they are found worthy of joining, the Emperor or Empress themselves performs the joining ceremony.
Eyes and Ears of the State
While the majority of the Order is stationed in Gasa Edhil, close to the Imperial Palace, it maintains a number of castles and keeps throughout the Empire. As a group most loyal to the Crown in the whole country, they have always been the fastest and most reliable source of informations for Emperors and Empresses.
