    The Guardian Cold War
    Military action

After fighting off the N.E.R.V. assaults, the remaining Guardians realised that they were alone. The Beast had convinced the rest of Tantalus that it didn't exist while simultaniously it manipulated them into doing its bidding.   To counter this, and build support for resupply, the Guardians produced and sold the drug Mithril. This made them wealthy, and they used that wealth to fund rebellion in the Districts to weaken the hold of the Beast.    Eventually the Guardians became the hidden power behind one of the largest Cartels in Tantalus, and even reached out to Stormport in the Graveyard. They recruited support for anti-corporate terrorist actions aimed at weakening the hold of the Beast, while simultaniously seeking ways to reinforce the Guardians still holding Nemea.   This over-reach was exploited by the Beast, who infiltrated the Guardians extended operations and toppled them. The massive 'criminal' organisation the Guardians had built to fund revolution fell rapidly and splintered into dozens of ignorant gangs. The Guardians withdrew once more to Nemea. The Beast had won the cold war.

    The Blackhorn's Last Mission
    Military action

The Guardians had been long planning a final strike against N.E.R.V. and the Beast. They sent a highly-skilled strike team into N.E.R.V. HQ to steal a copy of the entire database. The Guardians hoped this would reveal the plans of the Beast, allowing the Guardians to counter them. This was timed to be a last-minute action so the Beast wouldn't have time to alter its plans.   The Strike succeeded, the plans were passed to the Blackhorn, the remaining loyal fragment of the Guardian's revolution in the Districts. By this point it was little more than a drug-selling street gang, but one old-guard Guardian remained there to oversee the operation in secret.   The datacrystal was lost when N.E.R.V. assault teams raided the Blackhorn headquarters, denying the Guardians any insight into the Beast's final plans.
