Macharius Dynasty

"There exist out there in the unbroached void of night and in the deeper darkness beyond, things so terrible and vile that they would devour us and destroy everything we have made. And why? Because they fear us—and rightly so, for we are humanity and the stars are ours."
— Lord Commander Solar Macharius, on the eve of the Macharian Crusade

    Aegean Hypercomplex Destroyed
    Disaster / Destruction

At the start of the Greenskin War the Aegean Hypercomplex - a massive and vital industrial sector, home to billions of citizens and the primary manufacting and resource gathering operation on the edge of the system - was on the opposite side of the system from the Ork invasion point, and as such were a vital fallback and resupply location.   However, as the war progressed, orbital mechanics brought the Aegeans closer to the Ork asteroid base. Somewhere around the year 800.M41 the Orks used a superweapon that tore open space, destroying the hypercomplex, killing billions of people and shattering the supply of material for the war.

Survivors gather under the Noble Banners
    Founding

Around a dozen noble houses survived the destruction of the Aegean Hypercomplex, along with several hundreds of thousands survivors from all branches of military and civilian sectors (from a population in the billions).   For 60 years after the destruction of the Ageans, Imperial survivors battled Ork survivors. The Minos, Crassius, Macharius, Westguard, and Ithacaran noble families based from the Kalrek Voidstation were able to help hold things together with strong leadership.   With no links to the rest of the system, it was unknown whether the greater war was still going on. survivors lost sight of the large picture and simply battled for survival day-by-day.   Both sides picked through the chaotic ruins of the vast space-industrial sector as it settled into stable gravitation pockets on the edge of the Warp Rift that became known as the Scylla Reef.

    Revolution

In 4892 the Ithacaran and Minoan Nobles declared independence from the Sleastatt Alliance and claimed ownership of Tantalus. Assassins killed all members of House Macharius and Westguard in what many call “the Night of Blood” - presumably because these Houses refused to join the rebellion.   House Minos moved to claim the recently rediscovered voidstation of Pandareus around the Lava planet Hades and took over the mining of that world. House Ithacaran abolished the Noble Dynastic hold on government, devolving control of the Adeptus Administratum to elected representatives of the people. This became the Ithacan Star League, governed by the Assembly Council, all traces of Imperial heritage were erased and suppressed.
