Aegean Hypercomplex
A massive and vital industrial sector, home to billions of citizens and the primary manufacturing and resource gathering operation on the edge of the system.
The Aegeans were a megacluster of thousands of asteroids and moons collected from across the Raakata system. Over millennia these resource-rich chunks of rock, ice and minerals were towed into a wide orbit around the Raakatan Star. Around these grew industry.
By just before the The Great War the Aegeans were home to billions of people and supplied almost 90% of the material products of the Raakata system, and 20% of the complex products of the Imperium Minoris itself.
While the Hive worlds of Primus and Secundus were more populous and more important to the citizenry, the Aegeans were the keys to wealth and power. Ruled over by Great Houses, the Aegeans churned out ships and weapons at the start of the war in vast numbers. Fleetyards were expanded and upgraded continually during the war, and a gigantic secondary industry rapidly emerged in reprocessing wrecks of voidships and stations back into the system.
In 812.M41 the Orks destroyed the Hypercomplex in a single day. A warp-rift formed across millions of kilometres of space and swallowed the majority of the Hypercomplex. What wasn't immediately consumed was shattered by the gravitational and reality-bending effects of the warp before the rift sealed into the barely-contained spatial anomaly known locally as the Scylla Reef.
Some fragments of the Hypercomplex that weren't destroyed accreted into a pocket of relatively stable forces near the Reef. This is now known as the The Charybdis Graveyard. One of the minor mining asteroids that was being shepherded to the Hypercomplex just before its destruction survived and was later re-colonised by survivors and named Tantalus Voidstation.
