Agade, Citadel of Sargon
The mighty capitol of Sargon, forged when he took the namlugal from Lugalzagessi, still wet with that worthy’s blood. With the namlugal, Sargon decreed Agade Heaven on Earth and an eternal city capable of maintaining an army of one million.
Sargon’s grandson Naram-Sin was god of Agade from birth. Covetous of the power of Anu, he marshalled his forces against Nippur to ascend to the divine executive of Enlil first, ritually defiling the Ekur, the house of Enlil at Nippur.
Conducting such defilement was foulness, moreso since Naram-Sin bore the namlugal. This proved to be enough to not merely rouse Apsu but to allow that horror to possess Naram-Sin during the rape of the virgin Ninamargi possessed by the spirit of Loruhama holding the power of her Last Egg. Coupled with the power of the namlugal, this act drove Enlil himself to madness and he raped the goddess Ninlil in her temple at Nippur, driven by the fell might of Apsu and the namlugal corrupting the Ekur, center of Enlil’s power.
The Seven Who Decree Fate stripped the namlugal from Naram-Sin, but he was irretrievably mad from his possession by Apsu by then. Some stories maintain Naram-Sin’s cupbearer Am-senef took the namlugal and Ninamargi to antediluvian Eridu and forced Apsu back to his tomb, but all that is known is that Enlil was cast out for the rape of Ninlil and Pazuzu given the divine executive. Agade was cursed by the Seven Who Decree Fate.
Since Agade was forged by the namlugal, it was not destroyed as decreed, but ended up disjointed in time and space, a phantom city drifting throughout Kingir, appearing and disappearing randomly.
Due to the oathbond between Endingir and Huwawa, mighty Agade does appear near Carchemish in Tammuz to receive Huwawa’s tribute of fine cedar and permit the soldiers of Agade to perform the Rites of Dumuzi at Cedar Mountain. The rest of the year, Agade wavers randomly, directionless and rootless as the Seven Who Decree Fate curse decreed.
Agade is a vast city, supporting an army of one million, fanatically loyal to Endingir, armed with the finest gear available to Kingir, chariots drawn by mushrussu and even rare cloud chariots hovering over the battlefields staffed with warlocks and warmages.
These units are bound to the city itself, and fade when it does if within the city walls, reappearing wherever it appears. The city is easily visible from a distance as it’s ziggurat is tall enough to give one ascending it oxygen sickness, making it readily distinguishable at great distances.
Agade has all the features of an Annunaki city, but it’s temples are dedicated to Apsu primarily, and the Utukku-the Seven Evil Spirits-beneath him, worshipped as the Seven Who Decree Fate. The priests of Agade are bodaks, having witnessed dread Apsu inflict himself on Naram-Sin to rape the virgin Ninamargi atop the Ekur. These wretched creatures still perform all the duties of the Anunnaki priesthood, and retain enough of their past memories to continue the maintenance of what passes for justice in Agade. The en of Agade, Enanzillu, controls them utterly, but the sanga Ur-shagga, a cohort of Endingir, has no problem commanding the foul creatures.
