United Colonies of Mankind

Since the United Colonies are a multinational government, each contributor state chooses one representative for the so called First Council. During the time of the Gaja Crisis, the council consisted of 5 member from the European, American, Australian, South African and Arabian colonies with one additional member representing the Order of the United Colonies. Much like the Covenant, the United Colonies also use a system where a lesser council would draft new laws the First Council could either approve or decline.   During war times the Emergency Authority Act states that all authority over the Colonies is now being transferred solely to the Order to minimize the time for making important decisions.

The United Colonies are a nation that was formed by several different cultures and ethnicities. The European colony New Terra for example already consist of several different nationalities with German, British and French citizens being the majority while other nationalities and cultures coexist with eachother in their respective communities. The Ministry for Cultural Conservation was founded as a means to protect each individuals cultural identity, as many reasearchers feared that it might fade away once humanity would leave the borders of their homeworld.   While national and cultural communities each have their own properties, in general the average United Colony citizen can be described as dedicated, hardworking and relentless when it comes to fighting for a better future. Due to the fact that about 10% of the population are "Thawed", which means that they had been cryogenically frozen for a very long time, many people still remember having fought in WW3 or even WW2 since the cryo program dates back just that far.

The goal of the United Colonies is to secure a future for mankind, as their home system Heliuos had been completely ravaged by a major war. The preservation of history and culture, the improvement of technology and life itself as well as to establish a stable economy were all major points on their list. However when the Star Spawn invaded in 3397, public agenda shifted greatly towards contributing to the war effort with the Order of the United Colonies now being in full control.

In the early 22nd centuryTerras neighboring planet Ares had been colonized by the 4 founding nations:   -The United State of America    -The European Union   -The Democratic Republic of Great Arabia    -The United African Territories   When declaring their independence from Terra and its declining economy, they founded the Republic of the United Colonies consisting of Ares, Titan and Ganymed. However as the Jade Republic was slowly taking over the entirety of Terra, The RUC felt more and more cornered as the fear of a new cold war was growing within the population. Unfortunately for them, it went even worse when Terras ressources were stripped and the heavy sanctions imposed by the RUC provoked them into attacking, escalating the conflict into a war that engulfed the entire Helios System. By the end of the 23rd century, Ares had been devastated when the sabotage of a geothermal plant caused the Olympus Mons volcano to erupt, covering the entire planet in red ash. With this massive loss, the RUC retreated to the outer moons Ganymed and Titan, but with further advancement of the Jade Republic, there was no hope of winning this conflict.    The Republic of the United Colonies saw only one last chance: Evacuating the Helios system to escape their enemy and to give their society a new chance. Millions of RUC citizens as well as billions of people already stored in cryo chambers for years embarked on a a journey taking almost an entire millenia to the far off star system called Tau Ceti. But when a supernova interrupted the fleet with many systems badly damaged and one ship completely lost, the last two remaining ships Eureka and New Colossus settled for a closer star system that also had potential for habitable planets: Galileo 1641-B.   3311 was the year mankind finally reached their destination. While hundreds of soldiers and scientists would study the new planets before the ships would land a year later, the First Council decided to found a new government. Thinking they were all that remained of humanity, the First Council decided to rename the Republic to United Colonies of Mankind.   3312 would be the year when the scientisst would greenlight the colonization of the new planets, and the new government was now finally official.

At the start of the 35th century, UCOM controlled all of the Galileo 1641-B star system. After the Gaja-Crisis and the First Pangalactic war however, the Covenant granted their rapidly growing population several other systems for colonization including the original destination Tau Ceti and Epsilon Eridani along with some others.

The United Colonies of mankind are a "Highly Adaptive Invasive Species", which in no way is a measurement for their aggression but rather their ability to not only blend in with the galactic community but also to spread relatively wide and far due to their high interest in diplomatic and economic alliances. Their technological level is impressive for a species that young, despite not being capable of FTL flight between stars without the Covenants assistance.    Despite that, they have been shown not only to replicate foreign technology perfectly but also to improve it in the process, with human military gear being so effective that it enabled the United Colonies to stand toe to toe with technologically more advanced foes.

While several big religions like Christianity, Islam and Hinduism are present, the United Colonies prohibit any form of practice in public spaces, as fears grew that putting different religious beliefs together would cause unnecessary conflicts.

Due to the fertile soil of New Terra and Nero, many agricultural companies started growing all sorts of crops as a growing food consumption came with the growing population. Thanks to the United Colonies territorial distribution, Farmers were able to manage farms the size of a small city via drones that the government also provided. While flesh was mostly grown on Gene Farms where only the edible components of livestock were bred individually, there was also a growing interest in actual livestock, with meat cut from animals selling higher than bred meat.   Next to that, with the demand for high end technology there was also a high demand for ressources like rare earths. Mining companies now thrived more than ever since the African Gold Rush thanks to entire planets filled with untouched rssources. In 3411, the two biggest mining companies were Lesotho Mining Ltd. and the Dharati Corporation, each managing a small planetoid as well as their respective colonies.   After the war, humanities projectile based weapons found a growing market as they had been shown to be superior to energy based weapons in several ways which caused a human weapon manufacturer like Relington Armaments to be known even at the opposite end of the galaxy.
