Dark Steel is a metal made from petrified god flesh. It has been used to forge brilliant weapons and tools used by divines and fiends alike. A famous crafter of Dark Steel is Vandril’dan Stormcrafter, designer and constructer of Fate Blades and the Archaic Instruments.

Dark Steel is coarse, with colouraruon ranging from grey to black depending on age.

Dark Steel is durable, and resistant to most damage. It is immune to corrosion, extreme temperatures, lasts for hundreds if not thousands of years. Dark Steel smells metallic and has been reported smelling like iron.
Geology & Geography
Dark Steel is found in the Interrealm Sea, a vast expanse of nothing but corpses of gods who’ve fallen in the War of the Gods.

Dark Steel is found only when a god dies, it’s flesh mutates into a stone-like metal, Dark Steel.

Tested by Vendril’dan himself, Dark Steel doesn’t deteriorate or expire.
History & Usage
Discovery
The first mortals to supposedly discover Dark Steel are the Atvalyns. Legend says parts of dead god flesh fell from the sky and destroyed most of their country, until it sank below the depths.
The first recorded mortal to forge a weapon of Dark Steel is an ancient Forgemaster from what’s now known as Hillcove. He forged a legendary blade made purely from Dark Steel, a translation refers to the blade as “Rockfire”. The blade was forged for the first King of Voladdin, Kodram Rosewood.
Refinement
Dark Steel is often compounded to make it lighter, but it’s strength and lethality isn’t effected too much by this.
Environmental Impact
Unrefined Dark Steel can corrupt the natural environment, and has to be removed from wherever it may fall from the Interrealm.

Trade & Market
Dark Steel is very rare on the market, only appearing rarely on illegal markets among people who know what it is. Whenever it is sold, it’s unimaginably valuable.
Law & Regulation
In Ad Dikalla, any Dark Steel is seized by military escort and brought to high-ranking military blacksmiths and fashioned into mighty weapons of war.
Ustrana has similar laws, but the Dark Steel is forged preferably into tools and rarely into weapons, but weapons have been made.
If Dark Steel is found in Ardonnia, it would have been immediately transported to royal smiths and turned into siege weaponry.
Not many laws exist based in A’h Enfrys regarding Dark Steel. But it is seized and forged into weaponry if A’h Enfrys is in wartime.
