The Tarian border crisis of 1895

1895-1896

The border forts and trenches of Taria are some of, if not the most, fortified defensive lines in the world. They are all that stands in the way of Bezjan invasion into the major population centers of Taria. As such, every care is taken to make the border impenetrable. However, one fateful night in 1895, a group of Bezjan worshiping cultists came together and sacrificed the lives of both themselves and Ilya Taskov, a kidnapped high ranking Artesjan priest, to summon a gate inside the borders of Taria.

Haeasvethi the III quickly traveled down to Karillia to oversee the defense of Taria, and as a show of unity between it and the rest of the Divinarate. Armies from the rest of the Divinarate flooded in and filled the gaps of the defense as towns on the periphery were evacuated. A scourging hell reaped through the border forts and claimed the lives of its garrisons, opening the floodgates to further invasion. It was then that Haeasvethi III declared a state of emergency in the Divinarate, and ordered that all regions prepare to defend themselves in case the worst was to occur.

1897-1898

issues had arisen with Denarra, as its supply had been severed with the destruction of the Tarian railway. Supplies had to be shipped in from the sea and Haeasvethi III requested aid from Kassathia, which the city thankfully received. Meanwhile an unsuccessful offensive failed to penetrate into lost territory, resulting in a great loss of lives. The general staff and Haeasvethi III sought other solutions to the crisis and began planning for a covert operation to close the gate. Cothesi agents from the Blue shields would be sent in to close the gate, aiding them would be another offensive that would hopefully distract any defense force.

1899

Five Cothesi blue shields are sent in to close the gate, and the second offensive is launched. After a week of brutal fighting, three of the agents return back with their lives and to report of their success. The army quickly sweeps in and pushes the now cutoff Bezjans out of the Tarian borderlands. The state of emergency is declared over as troops move into the now destroyed border forts.
