High Republic of Almeria
The High Republic of Almeria, or simply the High Republic, is a nation located on the Eastern portion of the Almerian continent.
Historians believe that centuries ago in the Time of the Long Forgotten, the continent Almeria was once the home of the Elves, a land blessed by Nasir.
In modern history, the strange land was thought lost. No one in recorded history of the Eastern Lands had visited Almeria until an elf named Jandar Advyre was blessed with a vision: a path to Almeria.
History
Erol Dominion funds Advyre's expedition. New Erol established as first colony. Other kingdoms establish other colonies including Pont and Diregaard. New Erol leads independence efforts, bolstered by discovery and use of Elemental Ore.Government and Politics
The High Republic is a representative democracy with representatives at the regional and federal level. Each city-state elects the local Steward, a governor of the city and its surrounding lands. Stewards serve ten year terms. Each of the major city-states elects a Warden to represent them within the Republic Council, the legislative body of the government. Wardens serve five year terms. The Wardens also facilitate the election of the High Warden, the head of state, supported by the Conclave, a group of advisors. The High Warden serves five year terms.Military
The High Republic utilizes a tiered military structure: the High Republic Army, regional militias, and the The Marshals. The High Republic Army is the federal armed forces. Every soldier is commissioned for a minimum of ten years. Each city-state also control an organized militia which often also serve as peacekeepers within the region. Independent of federal or regional oversight, the High Marshal Logan King selects a Marshal from each city-state.
