Iviarin's Mercy

Clearing the streets of orphans

by Nestor Alren
Frequently refered to as "that orphan group", Iviarin's Mercy is widely known as the largest charitable organization in Nemea. However, most only identify it as a group that dresses in military-like uniforms, and provides basic necessities for orphaned children, often getting them off of the streets.

They are also known for setting up a blue and silver collection kettle and ringing a bell in highly-trafficked areas during the Lion Wintermoon.

While their mission pulls at the heartstrings, the general public considers them to be a little strange. And yet, most cannot pass by a bell-ringer with a blue kettle, without throwing in a few silver pieces.

Their tactics aside, many known street children have moved on from their corners and alleys, presumably helped to a better quality of life, by this organization and its "soldiers". In recent days, there has been a concerning rumor circulating that the moving on of some of these children is actually a disappearance, as no one can find them.

Structure

The structure of Iviarin's Mercy reflects the structure of most military organizations. The leader of the organization has the rank of General. Next in line is the Commissioner. From there, ranks are as follows: Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, Lieutenant, Cadet.

Culture

From the outside, the culture seems very militaristic. The volunteers come from all four Nemean provinces, the least from Dyodia, and many are former orphans themselves.

They are outwardly friendly, but do not hesitate in what they perceive as their mission or duty, on behalf of the organization. While friendly, they are also insular. It is difficult to get a direct response to many questions about what exactly their programs do, or how they work.
