XIII: Feed Me, Seymour

After spending an afternoon barbecuing and camping along the borders of the Forests of Pando, enjoying the boar meat from their recent kill, the party attempted to make the final push into Advenere, but were caught off-guard by a large patch of carnivorous plants.   The three alien flora possessed mouths at the end of each tendril and a large, gaping, beak-like maw at their centers. Horxim was ensnared by the largest plant and drawn into its maw, which he discovered to be filled with acids and enzymes that quickly went to work on digesting his body. The party hacked and burned the plants until they could no longer withstand the onslaught, and with a devastating dagger blow, Zaki destroyed the mother plant, freeing Horxim. At the same time, Wiinken and Zenora's fire magic proved critical in wiping out the remaining infestation.   Plumage badly damaged, the skin beneath blistered and raw, Horxim is badly hurt, but alive.   After the battle, the party's newfound friend, Fig Leaf, informed everyone that when she attempted to speak with the plants, all she picked up on was a disturbing, painful frequency, unlike anything she'd ever encountered before.   The party is along a large stream/small river on the road to Advenere recovering from the encounter; it is the afternoon of the 20th of First Seed, low of 36, high of 51, partially cloudy, Chandra waning gibbous.
