Sun

The Sun was a bark ship that was torn apart by the first Indi Wave of the new calendar and stranded in the Infinite Sands. It was the leading ship of the Sun fleet and the last hope for 222 people from Harkom. The survivors of the The Stranding are the descendants of the mortal part of the population in Teel.

1. History

1.1 Construction

The construction of the Sun began in the year 828 (Harkom time) and took two and a half years. It is transmitted that the Settlers ran out of wood during the process, forcing the people to deconstruct their houses and use the roof beams and anything else that could have been useful.

1.2 Departure

Only a very small amount of the original Harkom population had the courage and the resources to build ships for the Sun fleet. 66 private caravels had been built besides the leading bark ship, which was a community project by 54 constructors and their families (222 people in sum). The constructors were seen as rebels, though there was no governmental effort to oppress the mass exodus.   The turbulent sea travel of the Sun fleet took 244 days and many lives. 1310 people departed from Harkom, of which only 134 people survived. Most of the survivors traveled with the Sun, whose fleet was already reduced to 41 out of 66 caravels when the Indi Hit Wave struck the battered flotilla.

1.3 Stranding

When the Juru fishers from Alkor watched the first Indi Wave of the new calendar come, they knew that something was wrong. The wind brought something entirely new to the peninsula, something they knew only from the animals and plants: Death announced itself with a scent that made the birds flee. On the following morning, Fadimer was the first one to discover the last remaining mast of the Sun.   The event known as the Stranding marks the end of the Harkom civilization and the beginning of the Settler era. 134 survivors from the Sun and three other caravels were found by Juru people just hours before the Vermillion Clouds turned to hot and deadly ashes again.
