Agriculture

Cultural event

3497 AC

Around 3500 years after the elves' first study, some humans began to experiment with agriculture. They learned to plant crops, but it was not yet done effectively, and they could not depend on it alone for sustenance. Instead, they still relied on hunting and gathering to supplement their food sources.

As time passed and humans began to develop agriculture, they began to grow crops, albeit ineffectively at first. While still relying on hunting and gathering, humans started to settle down. They lacked the knowledge and technology to create a surplus of food, but this marked a significant step towards a more settled way of life. The first crops cultivated were most likely wheat and barley, and they were planted in the fertile river valleys of Atanor.   Despite their discovery of agriculture, their way of life did not change drastically. They still lived in small, tight-knit groups and relied on their environment for survival. They had a basic understanding of farming, but they had not yet developed the knowledge and techniques to create a surplus of food.   Even so, the development of agriculture was a significant step in human history. It allowed for a more sedentary way of life, and provided a foundation for future advancements in food production. As humans continued to experiment with farming techniques, their societies would gradually become more complex and specialized.   Previous event
