As the knowledge of agriculture grew and spread, humans were able to establish permanent settlements and rely more heavily on farming as their main source of food. This allowed for larger communities to develop and for people to specialize in other crafts such as pottery, metalworking, and weaving.

After thousands of years of living as hunter-gatherers, and another 15 centuries as a semi-agricultural society, humans had developed agriculture to a point where they could sustain themselves with crops, such as wheat, barley, and beans, rather than relying on the unpredictable food sources from hunting and gathering. Agriculture also led to the domestication of animals, which allowed humans to produce meat, milk, and other products.   This change in lifestyle resulted in a more permanent settlement for humans, as they built homes and communities around their farms. With the development of agriculture, humans were able to produce a surplus of food, which allowed them to trade with neighboring communities and develop new technologies. This led to the growth of towns and the emergence of new social classes, as some individuals became specialized in crafts such as pottery, weaving, and metalworking.   With the development of agriculture, human populations grew and diversified, leading to the emergence of more complex societies. The shift to agriculture was a significant turning point in human history, paving the way for the growth of civilizations and the creation of the modern world as we know it today.   Previous event
