Atanor

Discovery, Exploration

843 AS

As the Valaraith started to use Aruinorë to explore beyond their known lands, they discovered a vast continent beyond the eastern sea. To their surprise, it was inhabited by a race of beings previously unknown to them - Men.

The Elves had long believed that they were the only intelligent beings in the world, but the discovery of men on this new continent changed that belief. They watched as the men lived their lives, foraging the land, hunting and fishing. The Elves were fascinated by this new race of beings, who seemed so different from themselves.
For many years, the Valaraith continued to observe the Men of Atanor from afar, never revealing themselves or making their presence known. They were astounded when it was found that men did not share their own immortal nature. Men lived only a fraction of the Elves' long lives, and once they died, they did not return. The Elves could not comprehend this concept, and they struggled to understand how such a thing could be possible. They were equally surprised to find that men had a seemingly endless capacity for procreation and could expand their numbers by setteling more lands.
The Elves had always viewed their own immortality as a great gift, but the discovery of the mortal men made them question the nature of that gift. They saw the beauty in their long lives, in the ability to experience the world and learn from it over many centuries. But they also saw the fragility and fleetingness of human existence, and they could not help but feel a certain sadness for this other race.
Over time, the Elves came to realize that men were not a threat to them. They were a simple people living as hunter/gatherers, never setteling down for long in one place. Men had their own languages, cultures and rituals of worships.   Previous event
