Watersteel

Watersteel is the town furthest pointward on Bladefell. Before the Diezen occupation of Bellhold, it was a major trading and fishing hub that fed into the rest of Bladefell, notably into Dirkland. However, ever since the Diezens took over Bellhold, trade had mostly dried up. Trade was relegated to a few daring sailors and companies that would brave the pointward waters to continue plying their trade. The most numerous of these to visit Watersteel come from Nuulhammer. There is a major Altean Army base within the stone walls of the town. These walls are remnants from a time long past, where raids from hostile nations and more plentiful bandits and other wildlands threats were a constant problem. While these issues faded into history, the walls have persisted, built by masons rather than shaped into being due to the limited stone in the immediate area.

Infrastructure

Being the furthest possible point from the ridgeward end of Bladefell, Watersteel took its name and main industry from the water that bordered over half of the town's borders. A large port housing multiple docks and shipyards makes up the southernmost part of the town, with a market square just off of that.

Architecture

Watersteel was built largely without the help of shapers due to the need to import most of the stone that made up the structures and streets of the town. As such, cobbled roads and ground floors of buildings make for a very grey look at street level, while painted white wooden upper floors and red shingled roofs give some colour when looking up.

Geography

Watersteel is as far from Dy'As Ridge as you can get while still being on Bladefell. While on the map it looks like the land comes to a sharp point, the reality is that it caps off with a rather flat point, allowing an expansive dock to be built facing out to Bellhold and the vast ocean. The water here is very clear, with boaters able to see the ocean floor for about a kilometer out from land, before it drops off and is too deep for light to penetrate. The odd shipwreck can be seen here from scuttled ships that either reached the end of their lifespan or were sunk by raiders in times past. Moving ridgeward, the land on the other side of Watersteel's walls is verdant, covered in forest. A road leads from the town and goes north, part of a larger network that spans the continent.

Climate

Being surrounded by ocean, Watersteel gets a lot of temperate and wet weather. Harsh winds can come in from the ocean, making the market square need to fasten their stalls more than most other settlements on Tarsis would need to.

Natural Resources

With little land to exploit, the main resources Watersteel can claim are those within the ocean. Some hobby fishers can get catches on the docks themselves, but the serious fishermen take their ships and nets out to sea to claim the greatest bounties. Divers will also claim their hauls from the very visible ocean floor, collecting seaweed, mollusks, and more before surfacing again.
