Thieves' Cant is a covert and highly specialized form of communication used by rogues, thieves, and criminal networks to convey messages in plain sight. It is less of a traditional language and more of a coded system that relies on double meanings, slang, and subtle gestures to communicate without drawing attention.   The spoken form of Thieves' Cant often disguises criminal intentions behind ordinary-sounding phrases. A seemingly harmless conversation about market prices or the weather might, in reality, discuss illicit deals, meeting locations, or targets for theft. Context and tone are crucial, as words can take on entirely different meanings depending on their delivery.   Thieves' Cant also includes a visual component, incorporating symbols and marks that serve as warnings, directions, or identifiers. These signs, often etched into walls, doorframes, or barrels, can indicate safe houses, places under surveillance, or areas frequented by law enforcement. For example, a simple circle with a line through it might warn of danger, while a triangle pointing upward could signify a hidden stash.   Due to its layered nature, learning Thieves' Cant requires time, practice, and immersion within the criminal underworld. It is rarely taught formally, instead passed down through mentorship and experience.
