The Harmonium Order

An enigmatic think tank, magical order, and political puppet-master all rolled into one, The Harmonium Order was founded on the principle that free will is a liability—that society functions best when choice is limited in favor of stability. To the Order, control isn't tyranny; it's mercy through order.   Born in the ashes of the Calamity Era, the Order began as a collective of scholars, warlocks, and arcanists who believed that mortal emotions and unpredictable decision-making were the root of conflict. They proposed a system of guided fate—combining divination magic, social engineering, and psionic suggestion—to "nudge" populations toward optimal decisions.   At their height, Harmonium Order agents held advisory positions in multiple governments, manipulating policy through dreams, omens, and mind-altering rhetoric. They developed arcane technologies like Consensus Crystals, which passively gathered emotional data from the populace to guide decision-making at a national level.   Some saw them as visionaries. Others called them “soul farmers.”   After exposure and public outcry, most Order branches were driven underground. But rumors persist that they remain active, subtly influencing trade routes, military movements, even the rise of kings.

Structure

The Harmonium Order operates like a rigid bureaucratic theocracy blended with military oversight. At the top is the High Arbiter, seen as the embodiment of order and the final interpreter of the Harmonium Doctrine. Beneath them are:
  • Judicators – Regional overseers, often former generals or clergy, responsible for enforcing doctrine in their territories. They have full authority to root out “chaos” and instill “harmony.”
  • Concordants – Elite agents, often magically or martially gifted, tasked with rooting out subversion, dissent, and unauthorized teachings. Many act independently and are feared across the realms.
  • Choral Scribes – Scholars, scribes, and prophets who interpret, amend, and archive the Doctrine. They also handle propaganda and education to maintain the ideological purity of citizens.
  • Initiates – The foot soldiers and bureaucrats. Some handle enforcement, others administration. The majority of the Order is made up of these loyal and indoctrinated workers.
Local temples or bastions known as Harmoniums act as regional headquarters, serving as both centers for worship and command posts.

Public Agenda

  • Unification of Law: A single, universal code of conduct and justice system across all kingdoms. “No man shall be above the law, no region exempt from truth.”
  • Eradication of Discordant Ideologies: Anything deemed heretical, anarchic, or dangerously divergent is rooted out. They believe true peace requires intellectual alignment—not just compliance, but belief.
  • Enforced Peacekeeping: The Order inserts Judicators and Concordants into unstable regions “to restore balance” and “protect the innocent.” Many see this as occupation under the guise of help.
  • Spiritual Harmonization: They promote a “Unified Doctrine,” blending elements of multiple faiths into a sanitized, state-approved version of belief. Worship outside the Concordant Pantheon is tolerated only if it aligns with the Order’s principles.
  • Cultural Standardization: Through education, media, and ceremony, the Order pushes a shared identity—language, dress, mannerism, even music—claiming that cultural variance breeds misunderstanding and rebellion.

A quiet mind builds a peaceful world.
