Civilization and Culture

History

Brownies originated from the fae realm known as Underhill, where they were often preyed upon or kept as slaves by more powerful fae. Seeking refuge and a better life, they migrated to the mortal plane. In Tanaria, they found households that welcomed their help. However, their experiences in Underhill have made them wary of being taken advantage of. They enjoy helping but will leave a household immediately if they feel they are being treated as servants or if they are given clothing, which they interpret as a sign of dismissal or offense.   Over time, brownies have become a part of Tanarian folklore, known for their helpful nature and occasional mischief. Many manor houses in Zalhara and Arandor have long-standing traditions of accommodating brownies.
