Ophelia the Werefox

Raven Grand Druidess Ophelia McMahon (a.k.a. Ophelia the Werefox)

Childhood

I, Ophelia McMahon, was born under the glow of a crimson full moon in the heart of the ancient, pristine Elven forest of the wilds of Tamerlane, Sercetari Forest, that once flourished in the region of Amontillado.   As the daughter of the Lady King of Tamerlane, a well-skilled Spellblade and half-Elven, half-Demon named Bri McMahon, and Castiel McMahon, an Elven Ranger and Knight of Tamerlane, I was taught the language of plants, animals, spirits, and runes. At the same time, my great-grandmother, Thangwen, spun tales of spirits that roamed the forest.   From the Dryads, I was taught my ancestral duty to safeguard ancient flora and fauna believed to possess the properties of Natural Lore and the Elements.   Craving knowledge, I would often sneak into my great-grandmother’s herbarium and lose myself in the countless scrolls detailing forgotten spells, remedies, the Godds, and folklore.

The Fae Friend

One night, as I was out with my Aunt, The Lady Warden-General, TrisThara, looking for healing herbs, I stumbled across a dying Fae caught in a Fae hunter’s cage trap. As I approached, she called, “Lady Druid, I beg of you, set me free!”   My aunt nodded at me to free the little Fae, and with her borrowed lock picks and teaching, I managed to pick the tiny lock on the Fayre trap. Carefully, I picked the little Faye up and gave her water, which I poured on a small leaf.   As she regained strength, she stood in my palm and bowed to me deeply. “Lady Druid, please forgive me; I did not realise you were the Crown Princess of our beloved Lady King. I am in your debt with great gratitude; my name is Enora.”   Enora stood up again, and from her pocket, she pulled out a tiny bobble—a small piece of Jade etched with leaves and acorns and bordered by runes. The tiny Jade piece was embedded in a tiny acorn.   I took the offer with many thanks.   “If you need me, all you have to do is hold my acorn and think of me. I will be by your side within seconds, my Princess, Lady Druid.” She smiled at me and disappeared into the twilight with a little wave.

Current Endeavors

Sercetari Herbrium

Today, I tend to Lady Thangwen's herbarium with the same passion I had for it as a child. For many years, with the help of the Lorekeeper, Qhol’xaan, I have preserved the numerous now-extinct plant specimens from Sercetari Forest and continue to add new species as they are discovered across the Esoteric Realms by explorers like Eliza Haverford.

The Druid's Grove

As the current Raven Grand Druidess, I tend to the grove and protect the Dryads that survived the Great War. With the grace of the Godds, I am blessed to tend Dryad seedlings.

Ophelia's childhood makes you see her childhood from her own eyes in great detail, and her curiosity to learning her mother's and Great-Grandmother's crafts they were well known for. Rescuing Enora seemed almost expected of her by her family being a child of the Elven forest herself, and was brought up to have both love and compassion for all living creatures, and shows the kind of person she is inside; and shows her courage to help those in need who are powerful creatures of the Wilds such as the Fae. The story was left where it was (for now) and it drew my attention completely in wanting to read even more of where her story leads her from there! I loved it!
