Torrin Ghallixern
Torrin Ghallixern is an old golden dragonborn that is clearly showing his age. He has the general shape of a gold dragonborn with a sharp angular face with a large frill on the under part of his rear jaw. He has no hair, but long scaley tendrils fall off the back of his head like hair. He has two sets of horns that point straight back, one of which is broken off. He has a moustache of the same golden tendrils that hangs down low off of his face. And eyes that are difficult to see almost as though he is perpetually squinting. Most days he wears simple robes the color of light desert wood, simple sandals, a holy symbol worn in a simple iron chain around his neck, and a large shield covered by a canvas tarp. His armor of ancient bronze with golden waves and Morningstar have long since become decorations for his office/home. He walks with the assistance of a gnarled staff made of some hard sturdy wood as one of his legs is permanently damaged from a fight in his youth (nothing supernatural just defending his home from raiders). He is very friendly and has a good sense of humor and always is willing to share a home cooked meal with new people. He doesn’t talk about himself much as his past not because of shame, but because he genuinely doesn’t believe himself to be of any importance. He is against violence of any kind against any of the sentient races, using it only as a last resort. He does believe that inherently evil creatures do exist and will fight them, if necessary, but prefers to support others not attack directly. He is a paladin of Bahamut, but his practice of the religion is very different from most. He believes in Bahamut as more of a god of guidance, travelers, life, and paternal figure for the Dragonborn and dragons, not as a god of justice, or warrior. He keeps a small shrine in his home in a small garden of wild desert flowers. He doesn’t disparage those who worship differently than him, but he does enjoy teaching others of his personal faith.
His Life:
Torrin was born to a White Dragonborn Mother Surina Norixius and Gold Dragonborn Father Donaar Ghallixern in the ruins of Kerrhylon. Before he was born, the ruins of the once great city only hosted two clans; the Norixius clan was a clan of warriors, miners, and hearty folk, while the Ghallixern clan was mostly laborers, builders, hunters, and cooks. The two clans coexisted, but never really got along all that well. They worked together and lived out of of the old city districts half-buried beneath the sands. As the wind would shift and the sands would move, they would move their settlements around as new parts of the city became uncovered and old parts recovered by the sands. The Norixius clans would defend the group from desert monsters and raiders, while the Ghallixern would tend to the living, food, and other necessities of life. Then Him and his twin Tarhun were born, but because the children where of two different colors and the union of their parents wasn’t supported by the two clans, the children were separated, one with each parent. Soon after the births, the Norixius clan left Kerrhylon. Permanently separating the two brothers. Torrin had a hard life, but a happy one with his father, the priest of his clan. He studied ancient dragonborn history his father had and played amongst the ruins. He found he had a knack for cooking and speaking. He would teach others about what his father’s scrolls would say about their once great lands and the hope for the lands to be healed. His father liked to say Torrin had such an inspiring presence he could convince even the dry-stone earth to give water. When he came of age he left Kerrhylon and saw the world, He travelled throughout the desert seeing the two great pyramids, the Tiefling empire, and the gnomish lands of Zimzankatan. Later in life he returned to Kerrhylon to tell his father of his adventures but found his father and his clan had left Kerrhylon for Ganter to escape the harsh living of the desert, as the clan was mostly older dragonborn at this point. He went to Ganter to find that his father had passed away, leaving him a letter telling him that he had a brother. He set off with new friends, a Drow Monk, a fortune teller, and a human warlock. (Insert your campaign here) Long story short he found his brother and helped him escape a deal he made with the winter court of the Fairies. After the events of the attack on Cardimum he and his brother returned to Kerrhylon to rebuild Kerrhylon into a more permanent settlement. Having recruited some clan less dragonborn from around the Dessert and more from Ganter, they excavated a large area of the buried city and built large granite walls around it to keep the sand out of their new home.
In recent times, he's returned to the town of Kerrhylon, assisting with the excavations and providing some support to the populace. More or less against his will, he began to gain followers, who rallied around hiim and established a paladin order according to his teachings, the [Order of the Scaled Shield]. He is a very influential figure in the dragonborn desert, but shuns politicla matters.
