This city lies at the eastern edge of
The Dragonborn Desert, just touching the sea of stars. It is the largest non-ruined dragonborn city, and serves as the de-facto capital for their people. In hopes of supporting of this concept the black clan Hikul has established an arts/cultural district there, but that aside, the city is a massive trade hub. Sitting at the southernmost edge of the sea of stars, it links the land routes of the
The Dragonborn Desert and everything further sourth to the Sea of Stars.
The city is populated mostly by dragonborn, though tiefling aren't uncommon in the dockyard district. There is also a small, isolated conclave of wood elves sectioned off in the caravansery district to facilitate trade to the south.
The city is ruled by a council of five houses representing the five most powerful clans in the desert. House Kalivan of the silver, Hikul of the black, Arwarum of the Copper, Medkax of the Red, and Rasfarn of the Gold. Of the minor houses, Phyrgan of the green clan is the most important.
Each major house maintains a manor of their own, serving almost as a small, self sufficient village. This allows the main houses to isolate and protect themselves from each other. Unfortunately, this self-sufficiency and isolation has allowed the city's internal politics to remain cutthroat and highly competetive. Each house's territory can feel almost like their own sub-city at times, instead of one unified city under one unified government.
The city is split into three main districts: the dock district, the caravansery district, and the culture district. There is also a small craft district to support the cities needs.
Dock District
The dock district is overseen by House Kalivan. All of the trade through the Sea of Stars goes through the district, so they contains the cities fairly large port, plenty of warehousing, as well as dockside amenities like inns and taverns for sailors and other travelers.
Caravansery District
The sprawling caravansery district sits on the far western edge of the city, and is overseen by House Arwarum. The district oversees all of the overland trade through the city, so in addition to a similar warehousing sector to the docks, it has a large sector dedicated to breeding and training both camels and drakes.
Cultural District
The cultural district established by the Hikul Family lies on the eastern side of the city. It provides entertainment and education for the city; offering theatres, a public library, concert halls, and museums. The largest annual
Dragonborn Festival of Pride among all the dragonborn peoples is held here.
The notable DJ Whiteclaw regularly performs at the halls in this city.
House Kalivan
Formerly the most influential house in the city, they've fallen after an incident with the Cult of Mammon that cost them most of their leadership and elders. They are led by Lex Kalivan, a competent and intelligent wizard with poor social skills. He is supported by Porthos - the head priest of Bahamut, and Kirak - an ambitious member of a branch family who's very skilled at trade management. The other surviving members of the main family branch are Korvin, a wayward adventurer known for his bravery... but not his intellect; Tormin, a mousy and bookish young boy; and Chiara the youngest, still just a toddler.
House Rasfarn
Currently the most powerful house in the city, House Rasfarn doesn't run a district on their own, but serves as a spiritual center. They run the large shrine to Bahamut in the city center, and have enormous support from the powerful gold clan beyond the city and the Church of Bahamut itself. Their current head is a young man named Yiphal, supported by the former head Kraxus, and his skilled personal guard Phelix. Xektor Rasfarn is their head priest, but he serves at the shrine instead of their manor.
House Hikul
This house runs the cultural district, and is intent on supporting the greater unification of the tribes. The black clan is one of the most powerful in the desert, and is attempting to leverage it's new ties to Seradon to greater its influence.
House Arwarum
House Arwarum manages the caravansery district, and runs regular caravans out from the city. The second son of the main house, Azrax, manages a trade route to
Kerrhylon.
House Medkax
The last of the five major houses, Medkax has a hand in most of the city's industry. While the economy depends mostly on trade, there is a small crasftman district taking advantage of the ready supply of materials, and it provides a strong profit base for the house.
