Fernus Incendi

He's a fit man in his fourties. Obviously he works out enough to not only keep up with his kids on the playground, but to assist those who need help physically. He can lift a small child with ease so that they can see an experiment, etc.

A roman nose fits well with an olive skin tone, his almond shaped eyes are an anomaly. He almost looks as though he himself is the result of the great American melting pot. Where he is starting to go grey in his hairs, almost looks like ash.

He dresses like a Teacher, but one who really likes crazy patterned shirts. Ever yone of his shirts is an adventure, and the kids like to say he's never worn the same one twice.

Fernus was born during the first wave of Phoenix ethnic resurgence. He was one of the first children to be Ash-born. Thus he was his whole communities problem as it were, although he was legally adopted by Flick Incendi the community leader. When he was younger Fernus was a hellion. Pranking others, not focusing in school, burning things up in his excitement, he was often ostracized and overlooked by anyone outside of his 'family'. That is until he met the teacher that changed his life. In his last year of Middle school, he had a Magic Ethics class that was taught by a woman named Adaline Hawthorne. Adaline had been a witch for most of her adult life, and had decided that she wanted to teach later. This teacher took none of Fernus's shit, she made him focus and for the first time he had fun in a class. She showed him how he could be, trying hard, feeling motivated, actually learning something, and also gave him the first inklings of what would become his dream. 
From there Fernus did his very best, in Highschool he realized that he enjoyed helping people figure out their learning blocks. Eventually he began to apply to colleges, any that would accept Phoenixes, to get a degree and licence to teach. He wanted to find the kids who were like he had been and give them a better head start than he had. So he worked hard. Very hard. Many people told him that his very nature would scare, hurt, or hinder children who he taught. Eventually he took on the addage that Adaline had taught him, YOU define what YOU can do. Getting a job teaching with those worries in other peoples minds was harder then he had thought however. He ended up getting several teaching jobs, and then getting fired for his fire-producing nature, his bombastic attitude, or any other number of bullshit reasons. On the other side of the coin was the fact that kids LOVED him, and his classes usually became some of the highest scoring in the schools he taught at. He had started to lose hope of ever getting a steady job until he was called by one Emilia Koehler. She gave him the offer he had been waiting his whole career for.
Ever since that day he has been working in her Rookery Academy, helping mold the bright, young, winged minds of the future. He adores his job, and is extremely loyal to the kids and the company.

He's been through several years of schooling. He's graduated Highschool with some honors, but it was in College that he worked his but off. 
He has a degree in teaching children, with a couple of years in childcare and development classes. He volunteered, or worked childcare jobs as a teenager. He is constantly trying to teach himself new techniques, and loves when the kids he's teaching are willing to explain to him something new.

15-17: Volunteer at his local library, reading to small kids, supervising kids activities.
  18-24: Working as an after school caretaker for an established company. Frequently told he was the best counsellor/teacher they had. They tried to promote him into a desk job, but he always refused. He wanted to work with the kids.
  25-30: On again off again teaching employment. Usually hired to teach a problem class, and when they felt he had sufficiently "fixed" the kids was let go on account of his 'Flammable' nature.
  31-33: No employment.
  34-Present: Got a call in the new year to be one of the new teachers for a new effort Rook Inc. was setting up. The Academy at the Rookery. This was, in essence, the perfect way for him to live his dream.

Has won the most coveted title of Favorite Teacher from nearly all of his students. On top of being the First Hired to the Academy.

Being used over and over for his teaching prowess but being told he didn't belong and fired, has caused a lot of axiety for him over the years. He's also embarrassed by the fact that he can't really ever introduce his parents, as he is an Ash-Born. that embarrassment has eased over the years with being in a found family environment.

Being used for his love and exceptional ability teaching. Then being dumped because of what he is.

Caring and Generous, he often thinks of his students first and foremost when doing his job. Experimental and Outgoing, he is always down for a new experience or three. Sometimes his experimental nature is not really the safest thing for himself, but he always makes sure his kids are safe.

He cannot believe the nerve of people who stop loving their kids because of a change they undergo magically or otherwise. He would never turn down a kid in need, nor would he ever hurt a kid emotionally or physically intentionally.

Fernus is motivated to spread the lover of learning, to every kid who he meets. He wants to give the sense of wonder back to learning that he feels was lost in the rush to Test everything. He wants curiosity and exploration to be something cool for children. He wants them to feel seen, heard, trusted, respected, and most of all challenged. He is motivated to reshape the field of teaching so drastically that his methods will be things of the past in the not-too-distant future. Overall he just wants to learn, and teach.

He is fantastic with kids. He knows how to keep them focused, while not bossing them around. He is a very efficient forward thinker, trying things he hypothesizes might work. He's good with his hands, and building things.
  He sucks at seeing that people want to use him. He can overwork himself to the extremes for the kids. HE also has a tendency to throw out things too early if he feels that they aren't working. He can also be a bit thickheaded when it comes to problem children.

He loves teaching. He loves learning. He loves kids. He enjoys thinking outside the box, and finding ways to engage even the most unapproachable kids. He loves to go to new places and see new things. He's an adventurer at heart, and hopes to make learning a joy for everyone.
  He DESPISES the current schooling system, it hurts more kids then it helps. He hates neglectful, abusive, or simply absent parents or family members. He hates bullies, all kinds.

This man works with kids, and is an adventurer at heart. He gets dirty, but takes the time every night to clean himself up for the next day. He has a whole hygene ritual, that makes him feel every kind of clean; Mental, Spiritual, and Physical.

He is incredibly bold and outgoing. He enjoys making parties out of lessons, and encouraging kids to find their own way of doing things. 
In his time that he has alone, he is very dedicated to his craft. Always looking for new things to add to his aresenal of 'Edjutainment'. He watched the old masters of engagement, Mr. Rodgers, Bill Nye, Steve Irwin, and the like to get a grasp of why they were so effective. He is also A HUGE fan of the School House Rock collections even though some of them are now outdated.
