Birth of the First Emperor
Among the Drakai, no historical figure holds greater significance than Azzuren, the founder of their homeland of Dranya, and its first emperor. Naturally, this has lead to many myths surrounding his life and accomplishments springing up in the ages since his passing, including the circumstances leading up to his birth. While the validity of the stories surrounding this event is still a matter of discussion among historians, they nonetheless remain a celebrated part of Drakai history.
Summary
According to the most common tellings, it's said that Azzurens mother recieved a sign from Ahram, a member of the first generation of Dragons in Taeva, marking her then-unborn child for a great purpose in their later life. Additionally, it's said that the egg Azzuren hatched from was slightly larger than average, and had a silverygradient mixed in with its natural black colouration, giving it a very striking appearance.
Spread
While primarily shared among the inhabitants of Dranya, this story is also known, at least in passing, among some of its neighbours, as well as any areas where Drakai belonging to the Varshai group have settled.
Variations & Mutation
The most common variations to this story are in regards to the vision that preceded Azzurens birth. In some tellings, it's said that Ahram spoke directly to their mother through a dream, while more "grounded" tellings instead claim that she crossed paths with a Virak with white fur and silver scales.
Cultural Reception
The story of Azzurens birth remains one of the most culturally significant myths among the Drakai, often being interpreted as a sign that they and their nation had been blessed by the ancient Dragons.
